Plus, the LINESMAN was right there, looking. It was a slight tap to usher him out, granted he MAY have been heading there. The defender ensured his ground, as expected. Legally, confirmed by Z...

I've always thought Hasselbeck was a pretty stand up guy. I'd honestly be kind if surprised if he threw a hissy just for being pushed out of bounds in and of itself...
I kind of thought he was pitching the fit because he was in some serious pain and not becaus of getting hit/pushed. At his age, he is very aware of the limited shelf life he's got left as an NFL QB...so that was probably a huge part of it too.
The point I was trying to make is that a runner doesn't have to be out of bounds to get a call, however, they're only going to flag a violent hit there... not a mere push. I'll admit that was merely a push.

There was a game I watched earlier this year where a runner was assumed going out and the defender left him and he turned up field for a few extra yards and a first down. I'd rather my defenders made sure...
We were all coached to play until the whistle blows.
That's what Smith did.
Perfectly legal. If he gets fined then Goodell is wrong.
