The fact that our offense is scoring points is exciting to watch, even from Utah just on tv.

Touchdown Jacksonville!!!!! Has become much more frequently yelled in my home. We "could" win the division and make the playoffs. We are playing for something in late December. Cmon get excited!! I'm buying a BBTD jersey in our thursday gold for Christmas, ahhhh yeah!

The magic number is 8. Houston could lose to Tennessee, the Texans offense is down right atrocious at times and Indy is getting luck back, who has been awful this year. If we can somehow pull out Wins against Atlanta and  New Orleans we are playing for the South week 17.

This is the Scenario per NFL playoff predictor.

Week 15, Jags beat Atlanta

Colts or Texans (if the Texans win and we tie 8-8 records we hold the tiebreaker according to nfl.com if we beat them week 17) I have Indy winning though.

Week 16, Jags over New Orleans

Need a favor from Miami to beat Indy. Miami over Indy.

-If Houston loses to Indy they CAN win this game if we win out, otherwise we need 2 big favors from the Titans over 2 weeks, this would be the first.

Houston beats Tennessee

Week 17 Jags and Houston in a showdown for the south, Jags over Houston.

The Colts win or lose would be 6-10 or 7-9 and out of contention in this scenario and its puts us against the Texans where we control our own destiny.

So cheer for Miami, Houston to beat Indy, and hope the tacks can steal a win from Houston and/or Indy. If they do that it would help tremendously but since its unlikely I have them losing both games. To me, this is the most likely scenario for the Jags to get in via the division.

Win and in !
Whatever happens, I'm pretty sure the majority would have taken us being in the conversation come December (especially coming off a beat down of the colts). It's been a pretty fun season, even with all the frustration.
I had this up in another thread. Since its relevant i will paste.

I refuse to root for the Texans to win under any circumstances.

I shall root for the Colts to lose instead.

So you must not care much about Jacksonville going to the playoffs. We need the Texans to win next week.
Quote:We also win a 3 way tie at 7-9, provided Indy's only win is against Miami, and Houston only beats Indy.

you're right I didnt think about that scenario.

The Houston-Indy game is of real significance for us.  If Indy wins that game, the only way we make the playoffs is if Indy loses their last two against Miami and Tenn and we win out.  If Houston beats Indy, there are a lot more scenarios that allow us to make it.

I hear ya.

In order for the Jaguars to win the division, the Texans will have to beat Indy, and the Tacks will have to beat Indy and the Texans.

I feel like I need a shower.  One of those nuclear power plant decontamination showers.
The bad news is Houston never won at Indianapolis - not even in playoff seasons. I have a bad feeling about next week.

I hope we can win one more game so that we will at least reach the 6-10 record that I had predicted early on this past spring. Winning out is highly unlikely, but then again, serving up a 50+ burger to the dolts was highly unlikely also. We wouldn't be in this situation if our kicker had done his job in the first place and we had beaten the dolts earlier this season.

According to the ESPN Playoff Machine, this is not true. While this may have been covered, I'm hoping this simplifies the situation...

To win the division, the Jaguars have to go 8-8 with both the Texans and Colts going 7-9, or else the Jaguars have to go 7-9 with the Texans going 7-9 and the Colts going 6-10. According to ESPN, at 8-8 the Texans win the tiebreaker over the Jaguars, but at 7-9 the Jaguars would own the tiebreaker over the Texans.

I'll look various scenarios to win the division...

SCENARIO #1:

Week 15: Jaguars beat Falcons, Colts beat Texans

Week 16: Jaguars beat Saints, Dolphins beat Colts, Texans vs Titans doesn't matter

Week 17: Jaguars beat Texans, Titans beat Colts

SCENARIO #2

Week 15: Jaguars beat Falcons, Texans beat Colts

Week 16: Jaguars beat Saints, Titans beat Texans

Week 17: Jaguars beat Texans

Colts also have to lose to either the Dolphins or Texans

SCENARIO #3

Jaguars lose to either Falcons or Saints

Week 15: Texans beat Colts

Week 16: Titans beat Texans, Dolphins beat Colts

Week 17: Jaguars beat Texans, Titans beat Colts

It appears we need the Titans to win a game in any scenario. Whoever win the Texans at Colts game, we'll need the Titans to beat that team. Should we lose to either the Falcons or Saints, we'd need the Titans to beat both teams.

forget about the playoffs right now. 1 week 1 game at a time.Lets worry about beating the falcons sunday to get to 6 wins first.

For simplicity's sake, we need to consider only if the Jaguars win out.  That would put us at 8-8.

If the clots beat the tinhorns, we would need them to lose to the tacks and dolphins.

If the tinhorns beat the clots, we would need the clots to lose to either the tacks or the dolphins.  Then, we would need the tinhorns to lose to the tacks.

If we end up with a tie in the division at 8-8, we lose to the clots and tinhorns based on division record.

If we end up with a tie in the division at 7-9, we will lose the tiebreaker to the clots and most likely to the tinhorns.  After that it gets to common games and then strength of victory, which give me a headache.

Long story short, the most important games are as follows:

Jags beat the tinhorns (this is a MUST, otherwise we have 0 chance)

Jags beat Falcons and Saints (we need to get to 8-8 to have a realistic chance)

If tinhorns beat the clots:

clots must lose 1 game to either the tacks or Dolphins

          tinhorns must lose to tacks

If clots beat the tinhorns:

clots must lose to tacks and dolphins.

This week it is go Jags and go tinhorns (vomit).

Sorry for the lengthy post.  Next week, if we win it will be obvious who we need to root for.  The only way we get eliminated (technically) is if we lose and the clots win.  Other than that, we are still in the hunt next week.

GO JAGS!
Falcons miss the game with Dysentery, Drew Brees gets hurt this week playing chess, and the Texans inadvertently travel to Jacksonville for the game.

Al that happens and we've got a 50/50 chance. Otherwise you can forget it.

It's possible the Texans and Colts will have to turn to their backup backup QBs in the next couple of weeks. Hoyer looks to have a concussion and Hasslebeck took a pounding yesterday. If Luck isn't able to go they may have to go with Whitehurst and if Hoyer doesn't clear the concussion protocol the Texans may have to go with Yates.

the alignment of the stars and planets, God's unmerited favor, winning the lottery, and having lady luck super glued to the collective laps of this team.

...for starters.

it really isn't rocket science;

we have to win out and end our season 8-8; a tall order.

Houston and Indy both need to finish 7-9 or worse.

Indy is in quarterback trouble. Even if they get Luck playing next week, he's rusty and he wasn't playing that good even before the injury. Houston is also possibly in quarterback trouble as Hoyer may have gotten a concussion in the pats game. Also, their orangutan defensive end has a broken wrist which will undoubtedly impair him.

The Jags, have to now play two teams who are both struggling, but who have both got very good quarterbacks. Our defense hasn't done well against teams with good quarterbacks (and I'm being kind to us here too). Then we'll have to face Houston and Watts the orangutan DE. Not an easy last three games by any means for this club.

We're not doing you any favors, so you might want to start thinking about the draft LOL.

screw the tacks.

LOL Go to the Browns board to say that. Your team is the one playing for draft picks.
