I stand firm on my stance on Josh Scobee. While not perfect, but he was pretty much money for us, especially from long range, and he would never miss an extra point. His last season with us, he had a shaky season, but we also were just completely terrible on special teams. Wish Josh was still here as he is still a good kicker in this league.

He did get booed man. Dude is hated fo real
That's what happens when you miss a half dozen or so extra points in one season. The guy hit from 58, but also literally cost us the colts game lat year. I don't like extremes. Give me a guy who's consistent inside 50 and makes his PATs over "maybe, maybe not" Myers.
The thing people forget is that PATs are no longer a "gimme".  They are essentially 30+ yard field goal attempts.  The other thing that most Jaguars fans seem to forget is that Josh Scobee was horrible in his rookie year.

I'll wait until it "counts" during the preseason.

I liked the trade. Got a 6th for a kicker than was on his way out, sure we might have had 1 maybe 2 more wins last year with him but we'll never know and I don't think he would have been around after this season either way.

Even still, missing six 30 yard field goals in a season is pretty bad for a NFL kicker. Scobee was bad as a rookie, but he wasn't that bad. You're right though, I like the kid's length strength so much that I'd like to see how he kicks in the first preseason game before I start talking about an open competition at the K spot.

I think I'd have to agree with you here. Plus, I think Ficken has hit a couple from 50+, that should be fine.

There is no way you could say Scobee would have won more games based on his performance in Pittsburgh.

Obviously the front office saw something, or rather didn't see something, in Scobee that told them it was time to part ways.

Myers may not be the answer, but the decision to trade Scobee at the very last point in his career where he would have any trade value appears to have been spot on.
There shouldn't be any allegiance to Meyers at all, he was here one season and was just OK. The winner should be the guy who get the most balls through the goal posts. Easy

People need to get the idea out of their heads that PAT's are "automatic".  They're not.  It's one of the few rule changes that the NFL made that makes the game more competitive.  I do agree that Meyers had a bad record last season (his rookie season by the way).  I'm not ready to dump him just yet.

Pretty much.

Scobee lost the job last year.  Myers can lose it this year just as easily.

There's no project to protect in Myers.  If he loses, he loses.  If he wins, he wins.

There's nothing Myers has done to earn the job this year in advance.  He'll have to earn it again.

The issue is he was bottom of the pack when I came to extra point percentage. If he would have been alot better in that category there wouldn't even be a conversation about possibly replacing him. Sure they're not automatic, but you still should be hitting a high percentage of them.
Dude has played great this year.  Gotta give Dave props on this one.

Agree. Meyers has been "money" this year (especially today 3/3 FGs and 3/3 XPs).

Props.
He certainly deserves props so far this year. Hopefully it'll continue. A+ grade from me.

On a side note, am I the only one who holds their breath when he comes out to kick?

He has always been good at FG, his xp was the issue.  I think it was more mental and he finally got the monkey off his back.  He also has one of the strongest legs in the league so we always have a shot even if its a long kick
He has impressed this year. What, two misses this year? One being a block.

He kicks a weird knuckle ball looking thing. I hold my breath until the officials raise their arms.
