Tweet from Mike Kaye (@mike_e_kaye) - @ColeFartley I think their biggest issue is chemistry between Thomas and Blake. He's been open a lot.

Quote:maybe we can get that guy from Chicago who made that one-handed catch last night. Zach Miller? He seems cool.

Imagine having the QB from SF and the TE from Chicago on the same team.  Lights out !!!  Championship !!  #Montana2Clark

Add in that undefeated head coach from Tennessee and you'd have yourself quite the team.

look at what the Raiders OC has done with Carr.  We need that guy.

Yeah it's what I see watching he gets open either Blake doesn't see him or theres no pocket.
And the running back from Baltimore and linebacker from Denver!
Bortles and Thomas need time to gel but i expect more from him.  He's been a disappointment, so far.

bcc has a pretty good article on J Thomas.    http://www.bigcatcountry.com/2015/11/10/...-an-impact

I think its more a case of Thomas's role in the offense than anything.

I mean it's obvious that Hurns and A-Rob are the go to guys in most passing plays and rightly so. They had to edit the playbook with Thomas out for so long and in his absence Hurns and A-Rob have grown to the point that Julius is only going to get a handful of targets a game.

Could be part of the reason he looks like he's going through the motions. Watch Greg and Blake incorporate him more as the weeks go on.Couple this with him getting fitter and his timing with Blake improving, I guarantee he will have a big game or two when alls said and done.

Came to post this. It's a really good read, JT is actually helping the offense A LOT. And that article is just from the Jets game.

I'm still in the "lack of chemistry" crowd.
It would make sense that JT is helping ARob and Hurns by just being on the field. At some point soon however, we're gonna need to start seeing JT targeted more or defenses are going to just stop paying attention to him. BB may favor the Allens but he needs to think in terms of 'who's open'.

I personally think that Blake has been so reliant on his receivers (Allens) that he hasn't found the trust or desire to throw to Thomas. Blake and Thomas hasn't had near the time spent together as he has with Hurns and Robinson. The chemistry is there with them, Thomas is just an afterthought right now. Bortles needs to start looking his way and taking his eyes off the 2 receivers that make the biggest plays right now.

I think some folks are forgetting that before he sustained the groin injury in London, he WAS being targeted quite a lot. He was targeted too much in his first game back IMO (around 10 attempts) and he clearly wasn't 100% or on the same page as Blake. He had 2 receptions.

The following week he had 7 catches for 78 YDS and a TD. Not bad.

I think he needs to heal up and get in game shape and he'll be productive as more than a decoy.

There's that but I mentioned this earlier in this thread when people were bashing Julius.

In almost every single game, there's been an opportunity for him to have a BIG gain but its missed by Blake or the protection didn't hold up.

Exactly. Even in that article it shows two potential huge plays but Blake got hurried/swatted
Wednesday takeaways: Thomas' quest for timing continues

Is he not 'healed up' yet? If not, I question the wisdom (imagine that...) of his being out there.

I don't know - I just think he looks a little slower and I'm guessing the groin strain is to blame.

Players play hurt every week. Lots of them. If the injury is getting worse instead of better they'll sit him. Right now - if he can go draw coverage - it's worth playing him.
When is this guy going to step up? All this money, no production.
