Quote:What's up with this dude? He should be lighting it up with Burns and Arob getting all the attention.

Such a disappointment.

Agreed, not worth the money they paid him...

Sad, at this point the season is pretty much shot you would think they would just keep throwing to him to make him look good or at least try to get their moneys worth...

Bryan Walters can look good, and undrafted Allen Hurns looks like a superstar yet here comes Dr. Warbucks looking like a chump,

its embarasing...
I really thought he'd be doing better by now. He came on strong vs the Bucs in his debut enough to make me think we struck gold with his signing, but since then it's like he's just been going through the motions. I'm not sensing any fire in his fat belly or any sense of leadership out there from him. JT was supposed to be Jaguars best offensive player, but I'm starting to think he's a free agent bust.

Fred Taylor addressed Julius Thomas' play in the post game show.

He said that though he isn't getting a lot of catches, he is commanding enough attention from defenses to draw coverage away from the outside, which is enabling Hurns and Robinson to be more effective.

He was saying as long as he is doing that, he is okay with the lack of statistical productivity.

Now I haven't seen any coaches film to be able to say this is true or not or to elaborate upon what FT said, but if FT is correct and JT is taking coverage from the outside, then I can't be too hard on him at this point.

Yes, it looks like hes just going through the motions. Did you expect anything different? He had Manning throwwing to him.

What that suppose to mean? The allens production is there because of Blake Bortles so why isn't he in the same position? I'm tired of people like you blaming Blake for his lack of production.
All we know at this point is that he was injured for the first part of the season, and since he came back he hasn't been as productive as we had hoped.   But we really don't know the reason.   It could be anything.   We don't know.   He's a good player, he has a 4 year contract, and all we can do is hope we can get him going.

But to sit here and say he's a bust, or he's lazy, or whatever, that's a stretch, because at this point, none of us know the reason why he hasn't caught more balls.

Not blaming Blake at all. Its Julius fault. Running lazy routes and another drop yesterday.

I thought the same thing defended JT until yesterdays game.

Can't believe we paid that many millions for a fat distraction for other teams.

It only takes a little while before opposing teams figure out a dude like him is no longer a threat and quit paying attention to him. If he's hurt, IR him, get him off the field and get him back in shape. If he doesn't look better for 2016... cut him.

I'm so tired of the Jags being a FA vacation spot. I hope in the future we put together contracts that require production or reduced pay.

He definitely needs to pick it up. He hasn't shown a lot of effort. He short armed a pass yesterday due to fear of getting hit. He also caught a pass 2 yards shy of the first down and moved so slow that he didn't get the first down.... A freakin linebacker got him for no YAC.
Quote:Pretty sad Marcedes Lewis had a bigger impact on the game than JT
this says it all... when M. Lewis has a bigger game than JT, something ain't right.
Big money offensive players that come to bad teams on big contracts very rarely play with any sort of pride.

I'm not saying Thomas isn't at fault, but your heart's not in it when you go from a perennial playoff team to a dumpster fire.

It's different for most defensive players, especially defensive backs. You'll get 100% from any big name defensive back on the basis that they don't want to be posterized or be directly responsible for an offensive player's big day.

It's way more of a big deal for a defensive player to give up a big day to an offensive player than for an offensive player to stay quiet. Thomas probably doesn't care.

he had two drops again this past sunday, one in the end zone.  He hasn't shown up yet and this is 8 games in.  I think that this is one of the dangers when you bring in players from other teams.  You will never know how much of a players success came from scheme/success vs. talent until you've already given them a boat load of guaranteed money.  I still think that there are questions at the TE position.

Quote:I hope JT is playing hurt, cause he looked really bad vs the Jets. I'm becoming skeptical of his work ethic.

This.

I said this after the London game.  He looks pretty uninterested when he's out on the field.
Peyton Manning made him.

It's not that simple. Just watch him.

He's either playing hurt or phoning it in.

Not sure which yet - but he's clearly not the same.

On top of that, it's not as though BB5 is a terrible QB.

While I'm not thrilled by the lack of production from JT and fully agree he needs to step his game up...

He got utterly mugged in the End Zone on that play.  The lack of yellow cloth on the field was a crime.

Yep. If Thomas were up to par- he'd be getting the ball. Bortles makes his mistakes but he doesn't have trouble spreading the ball around.

I'd like to see Harbor back out there for 15-20 snaps next week if Thomas is still gimpy.
Quote:Pre-Injury? He was literally hurt on the second play of our first preseason game...

Everyone kept reporting how Julius Thomas looked like the real deal throughout training camp and there were videos of him catching touchdowns.  In the scrimmage he looked pretty good and scored there as well.  You don't have to search very hard to find a bunch of hype articles on him...  Or on this board.

I think its just been interesting how the script has flipped for this offense. All camp long and preseason long, our TEs was heavily involved in our passing game. Season comes around, with or without Julius, we've barely looked at our TEs. The only exception was the Bucs game where we actually "forced" some throws to Julius. That was also his most productive game.
