Quote:You're talking about recent history and I'm talking about the history of the ACC. Two different stories.

Again, Bowden has admitted to why he joined the ACC. He wouldn't have had the success he had in the SEC. There is proof enough right there that the ACC is much more of a cake walk. Keep making things up to make yourselves feel better. If you had any of the top tier teams from the SEC in your conference, a large chunk of your conference titles would be gone. I wouldn't take away any of those national titles because those teams were 100% legit.

Florida is about to get murdered in the SEC Championship. You don't think the Gator fans and everyone else out there knows that? Do you really think other than the completely blind homer fan thinks that they are going to go up there and beat Bama? Lol....Whatever the spread is, take Bama.
Dont fall for the propaganda. The SEC isn't as tough a conference to play in as you are lead to believe. Recent examples include Missouri and Texas A & M. Everyone said how these teams would fail when they came to play with the big bad SEC. Last I checked those two teams were more than holding their own with Missouri going to the SEC championship game back to back years. It's all media lead perspective. The SEC has one team that dominates, Alabama, and 2 or 3 teams that rotate being good..LSU, Fla, and Auburn. You could maybe throw missouri in that bunch with recent success. Reminds me a lot of all the conference's, one or two dominant teams with a few rotationally good teams. Watch out this year too, very strong chance the SEC doesn't win the playoff either. Clemson appears to be the most complete team this year.

I honestly hope you are kidding or there may be no helping you lol. Why HE joined the ACC? The decision was not his to make. Yes, he pushed to go to the ACC for his own reasons, but that was in no way whatsoever a deciding factor. FSU was not going to the SEC no matter how lucrative the offer. With that said, all you have to do is read a newspaper back then and see why (The move wasn't made for football.) I will give you some quotes below.

Let's look at the facts: FSU joined the ACC in 1991. The reigning National Champ was Georgia Tech from the ACC. The ACC had won TWO National Titles over the last decade to the SEC's ZERO. FSU was ranked in the top five 4 out of the last 5 years. It's not too hard to imagine the immediate success they could have had in the SEC back then. Going from independent to the SEC would have been a TREMENDOUS downgrade. FSU was playing the top teams when they were independent, sometimes 1/3 of the schedule were ranked teams. During the 1990 regular season, FSU played 3 top 5 teams, a top 10 team, and a top 20 team. At that time, half the SEC had losing records. EVERY SEC team had an OOC loss. The conference was a joke. They hadn't won a national title since Georgia in 1980. Besides Alabamas run in the 70's no other SEC team won a national title since the 40's and 50's.

"The Atlantic Coast Conference, a league widely acclaimed in basketball, was looking to improve its image nationally in football. Florida State, a national football power, was looking to upgrade its basketball program."

"The ACC's gain may be the Southeastern Conference's loss. According to those familiar with Florida State's discussions about expansion, the SEC made it seem as if it were doing the Seminoles a favor, whereas the ACC showed how both sides could benefit. The SEC did not take the news well. When word reached league offices in Birmingham, Ala., Thursday night that Florida State was going to join the ACC, University of Alabama president Roger Sayers announced that the SEC had no intention of inviting the Seminoles in the first place."

There you go again giving hard facts. You're messing up the UF agenda around here Smile

Other than giving quotes directly from Bobby Bowden, you're right.  He has already stated he was part of the process.  What more do you want?

Edit:  I still find it laughable that your fan base thinks he had no say in the matter on which conference they went to.  One of the winningest coaches in this history of football (well on his way at the time) idly sat by and the AD never talked to him, huh?

Quote:You guys got one person riled up. More gator fans in here that care about the attendance of doak than nole fans.

I think this might be the point, the noles aren't as great as they were the previous 2 years, so the fans start not caring...

Beat FSU?  When you aren't sure you can beat USF, you don't even think about FSU.

Edit:  I really hope they make a good coaching hire.  It is a lot more fun to have UF/FSU/Miami running on all cylinders.  I wish UCF could jump in that discussion, and for a minute I thought they were going to, but they took gigantic leaps backwards.

Why does UCF say such hurtful things about our miami program oh wonderful lord.
