I think that and the body of work in Tampa certainly shows
some conclusive evidence that we are way better against the run with him in there.
Almost all the things listed can be traced back to the fact that DC has not been drafting very many defensive players in the early rounds. Bad tackling? Need better players. No pass rush? Need better players.
I agree with the poster that said next years draft is going to be heavy in the front 7. I'd be shocked if 2 of the first 3 round picks were not DL/LB, and then 2-3 more in the later rounds.

There were real concerns about the LB depth going into camp. I think we were lulled into a false sense of security by some nice plays by our back ups against other back ups during the preseason.
Unfortunately,that play didn't transfer when facing starters in real games.

That was their second fewest total yards allowed, but it was still over 300 (with 326.)

I'm not buying it. Caldwell has been hitting on late round defenders. Telvin is 2nd in the NFL in tackles and one of the best LBs in the last two drafts, Colvin is as good as most 1st round CBs, and Sample and Bennett look promising as rookies.
The sack numbers would be better if the Jags blitzed and stunted more. In the past two weeks we faced a confused rookie and an ill 40 year old backup behind an OL in shambles. Why were the Jags playing a vanilla defense in those two games?

I haven't seen any good argument for why we have decided to play such a conservative and predictable defense.
pass rush is not the only reason. The team lacks basic fundamentals. They can't tackle

He was. Poz diagnoses plays so quickly and makes the tackle at or around the LOS. Armbrister is watching and reacting so is easily blocked and taken out of the play.
Needed McCourty and a healthy Marks/Fowler. Also doesn't help that McCray went from a shutdown corner to bottom of the depth chart

Not buying it. The Jags have talent on defense when they're all healthy. Not that it's perfect, they lack a little speed/depth at linebacker and they need another rush end (outside of Fowler when he gets back).
