Quote:Ugh.... some people just don't get it.

Fire Gus. Place Maronne as coach. Then hire Hue Jackson next season (or some college guy, or some retread, or some other OC)

And start over...

so you guys can be doing this again in 2 and a half seasons.

I remember.... not too long ago... Cincy fans were done with Marvin Lewis. The owner was stupid for keeping him... yadda yadda.

Marvin Lewis has had some really good teams and some really crap teams....

and he's been in Cincy for like 8+ seasons.

Maybe... just maybe we could just let this ride for a bit before doing the Cleveland Shuffle again?

PLEASE?!

IF Gus goes, and we move Marrone in, I'd rather Marrone just stay and keep the majority of the offensive staff in place.

Marvin Lewis took over the league's worst franchise and won 27 games and a division title his first three seasons. Don't insult him by comparing him to Bradley.

Also, he has hardly ever posted a team with Gus' record

Quote:Hard to believe this team once had John Henderson, Marcus Stroud, Mike Peterson, Daryl Smith, Donovin Darius, and Rashean Mathis all on the same team. We don't have one player on defense who could hold a candle to ANY of those players. Poz MIGHT be the closest, but his massive inability in pass protection keeps him away.

*edit* Marks is close too, but still no Stroud or Henderson.

Telvin is better then Mike Pete was at this point in his career. I don't know if he has the body to last as long as Smith, but he's got the talent to be better.

Yea. Might wanna go check out your facts a little bud.

Marvin won 27 in his first 3 years not lose 25+ like Bradley.
There's something to be said for eliminating coaching turnover. And who knows what conversations Kahn, Dave, and Gus are having. But you gotta question when it becomes too much. As fans that's all we can really do. I like Gus, but I'm more and more off the Gus bus every week.

There's also something to be said for knowing when something isn't working.

Exactly. Allowing Winston and the Bucs to put 38 on us was pretty much my final breaking point.

I was ok with the defense playing well and the offense taking some time to grow early in the year, but this was just embarrassing
Just quit already.... Admit your failure and get out of Jacksonville. Blush

Nobody honestly wants this team to go through ANOTHER rebuild, we just want to win! Sometimes you have to blow it up a few times to get the desired result. I do however like Caldwell. I think even the best GMs will miss at times, Caldwell missed on his coach and he needs to fix it asap.

I saw a post sifting through here about Marvin Lewis and his tenure at Cinci....How on earth does Marvin Lewis even get mentioned in comparison to Gus on this board? Marvin Lewis is an exceptional coach, maybe not great, but he has proven to be very good. Gus? What has he proven, how easy it is to lose? I would guarantee that any schmo could have been in Bradley's shoes over the last 37 games and even if they lost every game they are only 8 wins away from Gus... 8, in 2.25 seasons. Unless there is a massive turn around (6 or more wins) he is done at the end of the season. I just don't see how he stays with a 5 or less wins..

Gus was pissed because even though we only won 1 game in the first quarter of the season, the defense gave great effort stopping the run (fourth in the league until yesterday) and we played tough.  The offense needed time to develop and I can understand him being patient with the first year in a new scheme etc.

Yesterday...  the bucs averaged 28 yards per punt return.  AVERAGED.  When you have a third round specialist kicking the ball over 60 yards with good hang time you don't expect to give up 28 TOTAL punt return yards.  That was embarrassing.  at that clip you would think that we were blocking for the other team...

183 rush yards...  embarrassing, even worse considering they have a mistake prone rookie qb.  They only forced 19 pass attempts and we gave up 31 points as a defense.

We give up a fumble return TD because we have an unblocked end on a toss play...  Mind you the second toss play that we ran with corey grant to that side.  embarrassing.

We have a QB who throws for three hundred yards and 4 tds, but 50 or so yards of that total and 1 td were to make up for the six sacks that we took because we can't sight adjust a hot route against 6 and seven man pressures and there were at least two instances where the defense DID NOT COVER our #1 receiver and blake tried instead to force the ball to Mercedes lewis.

That would cause me to have a shouting match at the end of a game too.

Allen & Allen are proving to be a lethal combination.  That's the second straight week where they have combined for close to two hundred yards and they are developing consistency.  Walters pitched in and had a decent game for the 5th guy in a receiver rotation.  the TE position is non existant and the running game has gone from below average to embarrassing.

Yesterdays game was a little bit of a flashback for me.  I remember all those years where reggie Williams was tough as nails and would run through a brick wall but couldn't adjust to the ball, jump, or run past anyone.  So what do we do?  send him deep every play when he can't make a play on the ball.  Matt jones was soft as cotton, didn't want anything to do with getting hit blocking or any of the non basketball parts of being a receiver.  What did we do?  nothing but slant routes over the middle where he would alligator arm the ball.

Mercedes lewis is to the point in his career where he is essentially an offensive tackle that can be a not so sure handed check down option 5-10 yards away from the line of scrimmage.  He's listed as 6'6 but plays at 5-11' in the passing game.  so what do we do?  Let's put you on a deep corner (pick) deep seem route ({pick against new England) what about the deep post (throw into double coverage incomplete in the end zone).  Julius Thomas, 9 million dollar free agent, 24 TD's in two years, the move TE that we planned most of the offense around.  Let's run you on a three yard curl route.

I think most of the problems we are having as a team is because through injury we are counting on so many undrafted free agents and rookies (Corey Grant will be an asset but had a really bad play.  Armbrister is no Poz.  Nick Marshall has been counted on and this time last year he was a QB for crying out loud) so I can understand some of that.  But when you're a coach and you admit publicly that you didn't have a gameplan ready for the most coveted offseason FA I gotta say, that's pretty much BS at the professional level.  Maybe that has something to do with you not being able to hit a hot route against pressure either.  Maybe that's why the Defense blew a coverage on 3rd and 15 for 56 yards.

something has to change.

Spot on...

Gus Bradley answer when he admitted they weren't ready to have JThomas on the field so "we'll figure out what to do with him" was appalling.

That and the way he described the 60 yards screen on 3rd and 15...I mean it's like being amateurish at best.

I like the guy but he doesn't have what it takes to be a HC.

Getting a new HC and rebuilding are not the same. People just don't want to change because they feel we are changing just for the sake of change. At this point, he should have atleast one defining win as a coach. A great coach would have this team at 4-1. A good coach would have us at 3-2. A bad coach.....

Just ask the Falcons. The pieces are going to stay and I really like the talent on this team. W
