Quote:O'Halloran is suggesting that Gus should reassign/fire Babich and take over as D-coordinator. Couldn't hurt at this point if we're stuck with Bradley.
Wouldn't surprise me if he does that at all, if they keep him around.

I think Khan gives him until the bye week. Khan fired a coach or two real fast when he joined Fulham but seems to have learned from that and given his latest coach more time.
Quote:It's not entirely to save his job, no, but Gus Bradley is a smart man (despite what his coaching would lead you to believe). He's probably pretty well-aware that he's rapidly approaching a point at which his job will be on the line each week, assuming he hasn't already crossed the Rubicon, and another post-game "rah rah progress, rah rah build on, let's eat ice cream" display in the locker room would make him appear completely clueless to Caldwell and Khan. By changing his tune and blasting his players, he's showing them that he knows the heat is on and is changing his approach to respond to it.

I just don't think that is on his mind at that moment.  Maybe after he reflects on it.  But at that moment, he is probably filled with pure emotion.  We are pissed, but imagine putting that many hours into something and failing.  I'm sure he believes in what he is doing and he is failing.  I like Gus as a person, but whether it is his approach or just not being a good coach, it isn't working.

The bye would make the most sense.  Gives time for fill in coach to keep things together.  However, if we beat the Texans than that will instill some sliver of hope and possibly delay the firing.

He should do anything to save his job at this point. Not like it will matter. He is gone. Should be tomorrow but either way, he's gone.

Gus seems like a really nice guy. I'd love to meet him as Baskin Robbins someday for an ice cream social, but I want no part of him coaching the Jaguars.

Like I said, Bradley's a smart man. He knows his butt is firmly on the firing line, and if ripping into his team and triggering a JDR-style implosion is what it takes to keep it, then that's what he's gonna do.

This is a production-based business.

If you don't produce, you get held accountable for being the leader.
Well at least he's not backing down:

Tweet from Ryan O'Halloran (@ryanohalloran) - Gus: "You say, 'Hey, Gus you said it's built.' It is built. We have enough good players to do better than we're doing." #Jaguars

I'm sure it's great for fans to hear this (they've been complaining about it for a long time), but unless it gets results (and I don't think it will) it doesn't really do much other than satisfy the fanbase.

Babich was not a good choice for D-coordinator, but shouldn't Gus mostly be in charge of the Defense?  Then again, I don't think Olson was a good choice for O-Coordinator either.  Or Fisch.

Maybe Gus will push the team to work harder.  But then you'd have to ask "Why not sooner?"  Why wait until a loss to a bottom feeder team, and not before?

If the team is "built" and "we have enough good players to do better than we're doing" then the COACHES aren't doing their jobs....

Straight from his mouth.

Quote:No excuse for us not making Winston uncomfortable and to lose on D when our offense was extremely productive.

I don't know what's worse... making Doug Martin look like the GOAT or allowing that rookie all day to throw along with a 122.5 passer rating.

I'm pretty much over Gus at this point. We had better win next week, but it's going to take so much more to save his job. A win over the Bills in London might do it since Khan is so intent on making it work in London, but I fear an oh so expected blow out loss to the Bills will do him in. These are very likely his final days.

Quote:It's just hard to me to understand how this defense is so bad knowing he's a defensive minded coach having been brought over from that great Seahawks defense. I thought at least the defense would show something, but they're rock bottom. The only thing I can figure is that the entire scheme is predicated on having a top level LEO and OTTO, and he doesn't exactly have either.

Or Poz makes that much difference?

At least the offense was good, except for those three passes Bortles threw to Marcedes when Allen Robinson was wide open.

At least he recognizes it and isn't trying to pin it on Caldwell, which would surely get him fired instantly. Caldwell has given him the Lincoln Logs, but Bradley keeps making a campfire out of them.
Quote:Tweet from Mark Long (@APMarkLong) - Jaguars coach Gus Bradley ripped into team after latest loss. His message essentially was "enough is enough."

Too little too late?

WAyyyyyyyy too late.  The ship is 95% under water and he's trying to save his own skin.

Best analogy I've ever heard lol

If Babich was actually in charge of the defense instead of just a figurehead this would be a positive step.

Exactly right, the scheme requires pressure from 4 but these guys cant do it. Clem too old, Davis too small, Branch too lousy, and Fowler too gimpy.

I don't believe that, but will agree to disagree.

I don't think beating the texans will save his job, but just prolong it.
Did the players say back enough is enough learn how to manage the clock?

There is nothing really to "keep together."  Schedules are set, coordinators run the D, O, etc.  Losing Bradley changes nothing week to week.
