Quote:So do it? I'm not sure what point you want to make? I'm not saying VY is a better QB, obviously not, but Bortles doesn't exactly keep good company when comparing his performance relative to other NFL QBs.

Not necessary.  We've all been down that road before.  There have been hall of fame QBs with WAY worse start to their careers.
Quote:In what stats you choose to use. He has more yards passing than Aaron Rodgers this year. And as many TD's as Matt Ryan.

Bradshaw was almost out of the league.

Manning...interception machine.

And on, and on, and on.....
Quote:In what stats you choose to use. He has more yards passing than Aaron Rodgers this year. And as many TD's as Matt Ryan.

What do you think he would have been saying about this player?  Look at this first FIVE years.  He would have been having a (bigger) hissy.
Quote:In his 2nd year, Vince Young had both a higher YPA and completion percentage than Bortles has in his 2nd year. In an era where passing stats are no where near inflated as they are today. Let that sink in for a bit.  Sick

Let this sink in a bit...

Andrew Luck is rated #34 QB in the league, and Andy Dalton is #2.

Not only can things change quickly in one's career, perception at any point in time can be utterly wrong. Ridiculously wrong. Only in Jacksonville have I witnessed folks being unable to see his positive, significant progression.

Do you think Bortles has demonstrated anywhere near the body of work they have? What's your point?

Who? Manning also set the record for rookie TD passes and was close to a 1:1 TD:INT ratio. Bradshaw was a very mediocre QB who was carried by what might have been the best defensive team of all time. I don't see the correlation.

Again, the body of work can be used to sort out those type of discrepancies. Bortles doesn't have 40+ passing TDs under his belt or long term success. I don't think anyone would argue that Dalton is playing much better than Luck right now. But I don't know anyone who would say Dalton is better because he's played better so far this season.
Gotta be GAME SET MATCH right there ^^

Couldn't have said it better myself, brother.

If you say so.  The next intelligent thing you say will be the first.

Ironic coming from the guy who only registered for this board to rip Bortles.
Rico, what is the deal with you man? You're in attack mode, brother. Why are you so angry and unsettled?

Steve Young, Troy Aikman, just off the top of my head.  GAME SET MATCH, brother.

How is that ironic? I don't think you're using that word correctly. Also, it takes a simple look at my profile to see I registered in OCT of 2011, long before Bortles was ever a Jag. I'm tired of people attacking me personally and my fanhood because they can't deal with the argument presented.
There are exceptions to every rule

The only thing you do on this message board is complain about Bortles.
Looks like you're right, Baconator, you're not JAGANTIUS. ShackDelRio was wrong - just like he was wrong choosing to hitch his wagon to the two characters that comprise of his screename

Good to see ya posting, Baconator

Let me be clear, i think Bortles has some growing to do, and am not predicting Hall of Fame, but when you try to make a point and evidence to the contrary is presented (by me above), you ignore it.  Shows the level of troll you and rocdee are.

Speaking of TMD, how bout Mallett and O'Brien?  Dang what were we thinking not listening to that guy!

Because I firmly believe that in this day and age of football, you will only go as far as your QB will allow. It is the most important position in the NFL, and one of the most difficult in all of pro sports. Deluding myself and pretending we have found the answer does nothing for me. The longer we spend on guys who are not the answer, the farther away we are from success. Maybe if the team gave us something positive to talk about, but I've never been one for circle jerks.

Thank you, I appreciate that. I try not to let bias interfere with the analysis. At the end of the day this is just a game and we all use it for entertainment. Some people invest their emotions more heavily in it that others.

Wait, sorry, I must have missed it. What point were you trying to make? Where was the evidence for the case you were making?

Guess you don't read all that good.  You asked another poster to name HOF QBs who had worse starts to their career.  I named two off the top of my head, and could probably make that list grow much larger if i felt like putting some time in it, which i don't.  Continue on your Bortles rampage, i don't really care.  I'm sorry for you that you spend so much time hating on a player on a team that we watch for entertainment purposes only.  It's a game.  Get your emotions under control, it's embarassing.
