Another apologist. Just because you don't agree doesn't mean it's trolling.

Both players haven't even played a full season yet! How are they busts? Trolling at its finest.

Or angry jaguars fans. Either way, our team is the 2nd youngest in the league.

One thing I know is, if these players aren't developing going into their third seasons, I'll look at the coaching staff. Caldwell has drafted well IMO, from an NFL talent standpoint.

I never said they were busts out right. I've made my points about it. If you don't read don't throw out the troll card.
Quote:Difference is, Caldwell is atleast drafting nfl quality talent with potential. Gene loved them small school players.

NFL quality players win more than 3 games.

They're the fourth youngest team. Wanna know hes younger than us? The Rams. Those same Rams who just beat the Seahawks. Being young is no excuse. Packers are only very slightly above the Jags in terms of age, yet they have made the playoffs every season.

Its only week one. Last year the titans blew out the chiefs in similar fashion on their way to a 2-14 record.
Quote:No! These guys are babies and need to be coddled to death. Then in about 8-10 years they should be able to contribute.
There's no doubt there needs to be accountability. I'm not saying players need to be coddled, but like I said in an earlier post, in today's nfl with the way the NFL'S CBA is structured, it benefits veteran heavy teams. Our team doesn't really have a choice but to build through the draft. Building through the draft is not for the impatient, that's for sure. Especially when Gene Smith put poor together 4 poor draft classes, where most of those guys don't even play in the NFL anymore.

Is Gus the guy? I'm not sure, I have my doubts. But whether you like it or not, Caldwell is the best GM we have had in well over a decade. Firing him means we will start over completely, and it will not fix the issue of talent. Because you guys will expect him to draft instant hall of famers with every pick. Sorry, doesn't happen.
Quote:I remember hearing "give them 3 years" to Gene Smiths drafts too..is it impossible to expect someone to contribute as a rookie?

... they did
The funniest part is that last week everyone was saying Allen Robinson was the stud on the team and he had a horrible team.  If he puts up good numbers this week people will be back to singing his praises.

I'm as mad as anyone at how they played, but to start calling people busts is a little extreme.

Veteran teams do.

Does it matter what week it is? Rams are 3-1 against the Seahawks at home the last 4 seasons..
Seems like to me Mr Sullivan would be able to determine pretty quickly if a draftee has the potential or not. Yikes how many receivers has he coached over the years?

Outside of injuries that is.......then it becomes another issue....for Head Coach and GM.

Then, there's thing where receivers seem to have substance issues for some reason. That's pretty much a GM issue and decision.

To me, all in all if you don't know enough about what you ( position coach, head coach and GM) have by the time the middle of the second season rolls around.....you pretty much are not doing YOUR job.

Wishing isn't going to makes things better.

The Jaguars don't have veterans? The "being young" is a dumb excuse.

The rams have a longer playoff drought than we do, and it's only one game in anyways. The Rams did build through the draft, and have a bunch of guys entering their prime. They are probably an example of what we should start expecting next season.

And the Packers have veterans, and the best qb in the nfl. Not a good comparison there.

Good post. But catch the easy ones and surprise with the difficult ones. These guys are not showing that so called potential. They flat out choked against the panthers.

Julius Thomas, Marcedes, Poz, Clemons, Marks, Brown, House, and Beadles aren't veterans? Quit acting like if they're high school kids with no idea what to do out there. Why isn't it a good comparison? Because the Packers know how to draft? Say it isn't so!
The Packers without Aaron Rodgers would suck.  Leave them out of the discussion.

Might be a dumb excuse, but unfortunately it's the truth. We have some veteran players, mostly on the defensive side of the ball. Our offense has youth at QB, WR, and RB. OL and TE have a good veteran presence, and I thought they played pretty well against Carolina.

How many teams would suck without their franchise QB?
