As you can see TC is gonna do things his way. Already declining Beachum's option and trading away our starting tight end to replace him with an old guy. This isn't a Caldwell move at all. It was reported before TC came here that he isn't a fan of Blake Bortles. There's no reason to think Dave's golden boy is safe anymore. You can be assured TC is gonna bring legit competition in for Bortles, and it wouldn't surprise me if Blake was the next one to be traded
Name some guys who will be brought in to start ahead of him
Tony Romo, Tyrod Taylor-  While unlikely, Could be, one of these two

Garropolo, McCarron...would you have thought there was anyway we would have declined beachum's option and traded Julius for a 32 year old tackle? At this point I think anything is possible, and coughlin not being a fan of blake, what makes you think he's safe?
When you say next year do you mean in 2018 or this season coming up in 2017? 2018 makes sense. But this year I don't see anyone in free agency or in this draft class that can be taken seriously as a starting quarterback. Bortles is in his make it or break it year of his contract in 2017. If he fails. He's obviously out in 2018. But this year? Doubtful.

This year 2017. It would be through trade in my opinion most likely. I think McCarron is the most realistic option if we don't have to give up a first
Only ones who would make sense.  (see above)
We made all those moves for Bortles. This is Tom trying to fix the run game for Blake so that he doesnt have to throw as many inaccurate ducks.

They'd be nice but won't happen.

Nope (you will see)

Or to provide a QB with his best chance to succeed. If he doesn't, they'll have their evaluation of him down and can move on without concern

Reason being: Taylor has ties with Marrone

Coughlin: Knows Romo's health better than anyone

Marrone doesn't have any ties with Tyrod Taylor.

You are absolutely right and I am wrong.   Still,  Could see a play for him.   My thinking originally was off by one year.

Trade Bortles for a Has Been or a Never Was?

No thanks.

And what exactly is Bortles?   If he regresses even more,  Then Doug will bench him.   And play Chad most of the year.

Didn't say trade bortles for a qb. Plus bortles is also a never was and never will be

I meant trading Bortles to the bench, not in a deal with another team.

And Bortles STILL has the best statistical season a Jags QB ever had. I'm willing to give him this year to see what he's got. If he can play at the level he did after week 16 last year then we'll be fine.

He's a guy who was toiling under the Bradley curse. Now that we've exorcised that demon we'll see what he's got.
I would trade Bortles and ARob for Tyrod Taylor and be done with it. Bortles is broken and ARob is soft.
