Quote:Boohoo he said PTSD. Out of EVERYTHING to be offended about, you choose some irrelevant off-hand comment? Seriously? Grow a back bone. This is just pathetic. Your overreaction belongs in the PC madness thread.
I'll ask you this: have you ever known anyone suffering with PTSD?

Have you ever known someone who committed suicide because of PTSD?

Then stop.

It's irrelevant to this guy who calls himself a warrior.

Yes, I do know someone who has PTSD. I can guarantee you that he wouldn't give two flips about some message board poster making an irrelevant off-hand comment about PTSD. I can also guarantee you he doesn't need a professionally offended whiner like yourself sticking up for him. Unlike you and Ringo, he doesn't take every little politically incorrect comment to heart. He isn't some cry baby who cant handle a little banter. If he was, he probably wouldn't have been in a position to get PTSD. Have you even been in the military? If you think making a silly PTSD comment is offensive, your ears would bleed even listening to the crap these guys talk about in the field.

Now scurry along. I am sure somewhere, someone is offended by an insensitive comment and they need you to stick up for them.

You don't get it. Just because a person with PTSD would not be offended by the comment does not excuse disrespect and insensitivity.

Hiding behind the veil of being unafraid of political incorrectness as if it's a badge of honor is nothing more than patting oneself on the back for being a jerk.

And picking out one meaningless word that is not pertinent to the topic to complain about is not being a jerk?

It's not meaningless, it was an insult to more than just the target. If it wasn't pertinent to the topic, that's on the one who used it initially.
I can talk about this now since I no longer work for The VA (patient privacy act) and I still with hold names in confidentiality.

I was at a semi local VA once. I had to deliver some paperwork to be signed, 4th floor.. After having the paperwork signed, I began walking towards the elevator to exit the building. Out of the corner of my eye, I spotted a vet in a wheel chair wheeling towards me (older gentleman). I looked at him and asked him if he needed any assistance onto the elevator. He didn't say anything, but he motioned in a positive response with his head and pointed at the elevator in a way to confirm that he needed assistance. So I gladly got behind his chair and wheeled him onto the elevator with me. I looked over at him and asked him to indicate which floor he needed to go to. He never talked, so I pointed at each floor button by process of elimination, looking for a sign from him. When I pointed to the first floor, he shook his head yes and acknowledged. That's the floor I was going to, so I pressed the button for floor 1. As soon as the elevator doors closed, this older gentleman in the wheel chair let out the most blood curdling scream I've ever heard. (The kind of scream that stays with you for the rest of your life). When he started to scream, he panicked and began bashing his own head as hard as he could against the metal and plastic arm rest of his chair. This poor man lost multiple teeth on his first head hit and blood began spraying from his face. I was covered in blood and trapped on the elevator with this man for what seemed like an eternity and we were only going from floor 4 to 1.. I tried to hold his head to keep him from doing any further damage to his well being, only to be unsuccessful. As soon as the elevator came to a stop on the first floor, the doors opened and I called for an immediate code blue/white (which is a medical, violent situation) and immediately, security on the first floor came rushing to my aid. The man was rushed in to receive immediate medical care and I was rushed into Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Control. Thankfully, after some tests and hours of nerve racking stress, I was deemed fine..

Whew. You know first hand. I'm listening to the pounding rain and thunder now, thinking of a bro who doesn't come out of his room when the thunder hits. But as we trade barbs here it is somewhat confusing that a board representative, who should serve as an example somewhat, would hurl o barb like that. But then again...

Glad to hear you ended up ok. If I may ask... Why don't you do it anymore, with an answer I would think is obvious..but it takes special people to handle those situations.

Then we leave the subject and move on.

Basically, I couldn't handle it anymore. I spent almost 5 years there and it was a very emotionally draining position.. It drove me from the field and to just get my cdl and travel.

It does take a very special person to work in that kind of setting. Those are our vets and they deserve the best care possible, and that was something I couldn't offer any longer..

Thanks. I needed an expert on jerks to explain the difference.

Guys & Gals while I love the fact that we have a political discussion forum and we may disagree on many topics but let's not forget we are all here because of one reason, which is our love for our Jacksonville Jaguars.

Football starts tomorrow. Let's sit our differences aside and remember that we are all family  Smile

Everyone can use a little dose of self awareness, though this one will probably whoosh you.

Not at all. I'm glad to read that you're self-aware.

Get a room, you two. :p

Saturday night silliness. I would get serious if it was him I was calling a jerk.

It's a good thing THEY are the terrorists and we know what THEY look like. /s

I'm sorry, maybe i missed it.  I linked directly to an act perpetrated by someone who was designated a refugee under the same policy being advocated in this thread, you link to a completely unrelated link about a talking point?  lol.

When moral relativism actually starts saving people's lives give me a call.

A list of domestic terrorism is a talking point? You guys are so weird.

Oh I am sorry I thought we were concerned about terrorists. Forgive me for thinking you dislike all terrorists and not just muslim terrorists.

When you xenophobic vitriol stops taking lives give me a call.
