Quote:Nice, hopefully we can get something out of House too

We got a 7th for Julius Thomas. I doubt we're getting anything for House.

That I will disagree. Cause have to look at entire body of work.

Prior to 2016 (house was very good.)

Just got overshadowed by ramsey and prince.
Quote:FTFY. Albert is not an upgrade, we just took a step back.

Beachum was good enough pass blocking that we probably are taking a step backward in pass protection with Albert. That said, I'm convinced he'll more than make up for that slight step backward by being so much better as a run blocker. We're suddenly far more physical with Albert. Don't doubt the great one... that is, TC... so quickly.

House was decent by our very low standards in his first season with us and was a no name backup on the packers. If Julius is a 7th hes not getting anything more than a 7th at best.

For one season he was ok... before that he was a backup in Green Bay, and he was a backup last year. As a GM for another team, why would you trade for that knowing his enormous cap hit if you do?

See, you are the brains of the board.

That I did not know.
Quote:And why the steelers dealt Beachum to us in the first place. So that huge contract was off the steelers payroll.

The Steelers did not deal Beachum to the Jaguars meaning there was no trade involved. The Steelers simply let him walk in free agency. When the Jaguars signed him, he was the top rated UFA offensive tackle.

I'm always honored when other posters recognize as much.

If that is the case. What was the point of a five year deal. With a four year option?

It's not "If that's the case". That is the case.

Why do you think they made the contract the way they did? Could it be because he was coming off a major injury and no one knew how he was going to play?

This is why you're the cerebral cortex of the message board.
Quote:Pretty much where I'm leaning
Absolutely.

Add to your consideration how well Koyack and sterling played TE for us in the last 2 games and this move to get rid of Thomas is overdue
Quote:So we are back to having 70 million in cap space, more if we cut House. We're eating steak tonight folks!

No but really, we have a 2 time superbowl winning coach making the personnel decisions, a team loaded in young talent, and 70 million in cap room.

Pass me the Teal Kool-Aid, im drinking right from the pitcher tonight.
And you should be there's more reason to be optimistic about our chances for Success next year than there was at any point in the last 10 years
Lol what is happening on this page? My oh my.

Escape while you can.

It was a test drive. They decided not to buy. It's really that simple.
Quote:reminds me of all those other times we had a billion dollars and still ended up picking top 5
Hey don't blame me, it's not my fault you can't hold your teal Kool aid.

This time it will be different. Remember your cynicism when we win the AFC south this coming year.

The point was exactly the way things played out.

The Jags got Beachum for 1 year at a cheap rate in a "prove-it" situation in which they then had the option of picking up an additional 4 year $40million

Or, they could walk away after 1 year and owe him nothing.

They chose the latter.  It was basically a no-risk deal from the Jags perspective.  They got a chance to look at him for a year before committing any meaningful resources towards him.

Makes sense.

Beachum and Linder were the only O-Linemen who we weren't worried about going into the off-season and we let one walk so we could get a guy 5 years older.
