Quote:I appreciate your astute perspective.  My post clearly stated that I was simply basing my opinion off of early training camp highlights.  Since I'm serving in South Korea (so rude people like you can voice your opinion) and unable to attend any of the practices I come here for (hopefully) a more realistic assessment of what's going on with the team.  Thank you for reminding me why I don't come here very often.

For those that actually posted constructive and informative feedback, thank you!

What in the highlight real lead you to believe he hasn't progressed?  Everything that is coming out is the exact opposite.  This would lead most to believe you are trolling.
I'll reserve judgement until the first couple regular season games.

The past few preseason Bortles and even Gabbert looked like QB studs. People have gotten all "amped" up about how great the QBs look during preseason. Regular season hits, well,,,,,

"Stud" is a bit much. Gabbert in preseason still looked worse than regular season Blake. And way worse than preseason Blake.

We were just so excited to see him move the ball and not get sacked that we hyped him up.

Let's not even begin to speculate how well Bortles would do with a 1600 yard MJD

Bortles looked like a top tier QB should look in the preseason when other teams aren't playing as hard and he was facing inferior competition, and that's more than we can say about anyone playing for Jacksonville since Brunell. Leftwich, Garrard, Gabbert, Henne, everyone since Brunell has always left Jaguars fans in the preseason making excuses as to why they looked so shaky. That's stopped with Bortles. Bortles was a rookie, but he was clearly better than everyone else from a talent and courage standpoint when he hit the field in the preseason. Henne and Gabbert threw a lot of checkdowns, Garrard and Leftwich were indecisive, Bortles looked down the field and threw great passes even with a rusher on him.

Bortles may never be a true top tier guy, we can't know if he will yet, but his efforts in the preseason last year were much better than anything we'd seen for a long time prior.

Gabbert never looked like a stud.  He played better in practice, but that does not equate to stud.

We could all wait to make judgements, but this would be a very boring board if we did so.  All we have is what we can see today.  Plus, it is fun.
Bortles is a self-proclaimed 'PRACTICE?' player. He doesn't turn it on until the lights go on.

Some good throws against the Saints who went 13-3 and into the second round of the playoffs in 2011.

Yeah, "stud" is a bit much, okay. I was just meaning that the QBs have looked much better in preseason and then struggled in the regular seasons.

Gabbert was always a practice warrior.  It was when people were allowed to hit him that his game turned into hot garbage.

Bortles is a self-proclaimed practice dud.  Ask him and he'll tell you.  That goes all the way back to UCF.  He is just one of those players that plays better when the lights go on.  Some will say his stats last year don't show that but with a healthy ARob, addition of JT, and improved offensive line/running game he is going to be significantly better this year.

Quote:No, no, no, it's us that need to thank you...................for not coming here to often. Serving is SK so people can voice? Not even you believe that. SK is a government payed vacation. This board is crawling with ex and current warriors that cringed when we read this post.

Oh yeah, Bortles looks to be much improved.
All reports suggest Bortles has made a step in the right direction. How big a step is yet to be determined, but it's good that he hasn't shown signs of a sophomore slump

Bortles might be the opposite. He may not be a stud in practice but when the lights come on, he takes his game up.
Practice we talking about practice? I mean cmon practice? Lets let the season play out before anointing or burrying this guy. All we can hope is that he improves and takes a couple steps forward, the offense is respectable and this team wins more than 3 friggin games. If not the heat will come his way whether warranted or not, he's the qb, he will get more credit/blame than he deserves regardless of the outcome/record of this team.

I hate seeing crap like this, what exactly were they teaching him last year then? Same thing with Beadles, a wider stance and suddenly this guy can be a probowl left guard and block anything in front of him? I don't doubt Blake will be improved, well tbh he should be improved, but some of the reasons behind these improvements are just preposterous.

The world was spinning for Blake last year. Hence the reference that this time last year he was looking for a place to live. This summer he's aggressively approached fundamental mechanics and had little distractions.

Have you ever played a sport before? When you are worried about WHAT you need to do and WHERE you need to be, you tend to forget HOW it needs to be done. If Blake's head was spinning last year, it makes sense that he had trouble correcting his innate mechanics. If he doesn't have to worry about the WHAT and WHERE as much this year, which reportedly he doesn't, it makes sense that he can focus more on the HOW.
