You mess with the bull you get the horns.

Quote:Why was he pushing his way to the bar to begin with? Getting a Shirley Temple? Hopefully they found his fake ID.

The girl may have cussed him out. Raised her hand? So? You deck her? The guy is obviously a Weiner boy. Showing his toughness by cold cocking some female at a bar. Bet if it was a dude, he woulda backed off.

Guy clearly had Ray Rice mentoring him.

Maybe he can try his luck in the Octagon..but he's probably missing some nads.

Back to the unemployment line for this poor, misunderstood youth. But wait...someone had the cash to retain lawyer Jose Biased Maybe we can hook this schmuck up with Casey Anthony.

Good lord man. Time to step away from the keyboard.
TJT = Typical Jacksonville Thug

The cfb nation wonders why, but we, here in Jacksonville, know why he's a piece of trash..

We see it on the news everyday here in the JVille...

Lets jus say "He was a goot boy!"

Quote:I also don't understand how not one guy came to that girls defense in the bar.  In a lot of cases a guy hits a girl and it doesn't matter how it happened, the only thing someone sees is a girl getting hit and pounce on the guy for hitting a girl.

Absolutely nothing happened.  The guy next to her obviously wanted no part of it...the bartenders kept serving drinks like it was just another night in the bar.  The only person that helped her was her friend.
Apparently he left right after it happened. But yeah, it looked as if it was just another evening of whack a mole at the pub.

You seem like your a Times Union commenter.
Sometimes you have to realize that you are dealing with a drunk dummy who has nothing to lose. He had everything to lose and she had nothing. Hindsight is 20/20 but leaving would have been for the best.

She took a swing at him first, it appears. HOWEVER!!!!!!! He is a football player and clearly very strong. Her head snapped back like a rag doll when he hit her. Disgusting. I'm all for equal rights, but that's not necessarily a fair fight. Agree, she should also be charged for assault.

Quote:Time to transfer to UF.

:teehee:
Looks to me like he high-tailed it after he realized his punch didn't measure up to hers.

Just sayin'.

She's standing her ground.  He's running.

She was the alpha of the two.

One of the most gratifying things I have seen in a long time happened this past sunday.  5-2 with one of the greatest individual performances I have seen in any sporting event the us women's national team won the world cup and an entire generation of great women players got the gold that they had been chasing for the better part of two decades.  arguably the best player on that team received the golden glove award for best goal tending performance through out the entire tournament and that was Hope Solo, one of my favorite athletes of any sport.

One of the big debates before the start of the world cup was if she should be allowed to participate in the world cup.  Why you ask?  because in a nutshell one year ago she got drunk and basically beat up an entire side of her family.  one particular individual if im not mistaken was her nephew who is only a couple years younger than Deandre Johnson and stands about 6-4 300 pounds.  By all reports by the time it was over she was essentially slamming his head into the ground.

Full disclosure, i'm a gator fan and loathe scarlet and gold like the plague.  I also ascribe to the concept of chivalry.  I think that men should always error on the side of caution and go out of their way to ensure the safety of ladies both young and old and should devlop thicker skin and patience in the face of conflict.  At the same time the idea that there are no circumstances under which you should ever hit a women is asinine.  Is it different?  yes.  Do I think there should be a greater burden?  yes and in this case we can have a common sense debate about if this instance met that criteria, but if you simply say well just because she's female he's in the wrong then I can't help you.  Also, as I stated above, if you think just because someone is a women that they can't catch you in a moment of vulnerability and cause you great physical harm then that's just stupid.

When I watch the video this is what I see.

1.) the young lady spoke to Deandre First. There Is no audio so that can't be fully verified but its plain to see that for whatever reason she was the one who became animated first and began chirping at Deandre.

2.) You can plainly see that they young lady for whatever reason starts sliding slightly to the left further obstructing his ability to get to the bar and order his Shirley temple.

3.) You can clearly see that as he tries to make his way to the bar she turns to confront him.  The moment she turns, her right fist is raised and clinched.  It's at this time that Deandre does the chivalrous thing and holds her arms down.

4.) as he is holding her arms down she begins taunting him.  He chirps back.

5.) then she attempts to knee him and then swing on him.

At this point in my mind the kid already went through the ok, she's a drunk idiot I am a football player let's just try to control the chick don't hit a woman thing.  At this point its much less a hard and fast rule and how any man would respond is between him and the God he believes in.

Would I have hit her?  probably not.  But then of course that's because if I was single and in college again i'd be thinking of other forms of corrective behavior for a feisty attractive blond but that's another story.  But can I sit here and call him a woman beater?  no.  He was aggressed upon and attacked.  How he responded is a matter of semantics not legality.  I'm sorry that this kid basically just lost his football career as it would have been.

What really troubles me is the way it's being reported.  one site says that after a period of pushing and shoving the VICTIM tries to push him off her and he responds with a vicious punch.  They don't mention the fact that she threatened him with an open fist, tried to knee him and then swung with an open fist at him.  On the radio today you'd think that the debate was about how to respond to being called a racial slur than how to respond when being attacked.  I think that this movement to paint men in the wrong and completely abolish the idea that a man can at any time justly defend himself is a perversion of political correctness that is contributing to a culture that promotes women to behave as they did in the video.  Just ask Stephen A. Smith.

These posts defending him are a joke, I hope.

Otherwise...

...just smh...

Then the bull gets de- horned afterwards. Won the fight, lost the battle.
Are people actually trying to defend him?  Give me a break.  Every single guy has probably dealt with some mouthy drunk chick at a bar.  Only a total thug and punk would take a swing at that girl.

A real man would step back, walk away and find another place at the bar to order his Shirley Temple. The only time a man hitting a woman is justified is if the woman possesses a deadly weapon and shows clear intent to use it against the man. Otherwise, it's on the man to walk away and call the cops if the situation warrants it (this one didn't).

Also a knee or kick to the nuts that's unwarranted would surely end in her getting hit.

That's still a "walk away" situation in my book, and it's not all chivalry. If the entire altercation is the woman hitting the man, the man might get out of a trip to jail that night depending on how big of a [BLEEP] the cop that responds is. If the man touches the woman at all, even if she kicked the living snot out of him and he just slapped her across the face to get her to back off, he's going to jail. It's just the way our society is wired.
Well with video proof of her attacks I wouldn't be confident she is getting away scott free.
Quote:Setting aside the question of why Johnson, who is 19, was in a bar at all, no amount of provocation justifies what Johnson did. He faced no real threat of harm, and he clearly has the physical skills to defend himself without a counterattack, allowing him to get away from the woman who was trying to hit him.

Can't disagree with Florio on this one. Had he just walked away the entire situation would be a non issue. Hell he could've even filed assault charges after the fact (assuming he would be ok with the questioning of as to why he was at a bar in the first place).
Being in a bar under 21 is not illegal, and I'm getting entirely sick of this narrative and picture they're trying to paint by continually saying that.  Lots of bars in Tallahassee are 18+, and even if they are 21+ it's not uncommon in college towns for the majority of people in there to be under 21.  I wish they would stop with this bull crap of "other than the fact of why he was even in a bar being under 21 years of age...."

There's a very good chance she's under 21 as well, it's so stupid.  Let's face it, they both made mistakes and should be held accountable.  He is being held accountable and she probably won't be.
