Quote:So you are for socialized healthcare that includes mental health counseling? Cool...

Ha, ha, I can always count on a good joke from you.   Wink   I never said that I am for socialized anything.
Quote:LOL, I never sit with my back facing the entrance.  I know at work we sometimes get suspicious looks by some of the U.S. Customs guys coming into the building when they see a few of us outside on a day like today wearing a coat/jacket.  When you sit in a room that is probably around 60 or so degrees for any length of time, you do get pretty cold.

It's like a game of musical chairs with a few of us when we're together.  It bugs my wife that I always take the seat facing the entrance.  I finally had to explain it to her so she'd stop complaining.
I kind of feel bad for the fact you actually think about things like getting a view of the entrance. Like being permanently on call

Switzerland has very pro-private ownership gun laws the population is heavily armed and trained. Australia has very anti-private ownership gun laws the population is vastly disarmed. Both countries have less gun crimes then America. Since they have essentially opposite approach to gun legislation yet yield nearly the same results it stands to reason there is much more to the story.

Basically repeating Australia proves less guns = less gun crime is [BAD WORD REMOVED] and Switzerland proves it.

Do you ever consider culture? Britain has way more binge drinking than other European nations. Do you think making drinking laws more lax like some of the European countries would help the problem?

Australia had a problem with mass shootings, now it doesn't. America has a problem with mass shootings but lets just brush it under the carpet.

Perhaps you should use your own advice and "get out more".  You know, explore other countries and cultures.  The Brit culture and the Australian culture are not the same as U.S. culture.

I do that too. That's how they got Wild Bill you know.

2 out of 3.  Of course, U.S. culture and I've been to England.  I've also been to many countries in Europe, The Middle East, Africa and South America.  I've never been to Australia.  Your point?

You told him to get out more and if he's been anywhere else. He responded yes. Probably on his own dime. So he may have went on his own accord and not because he was sent there. So I'd guess an unbiased point of view. Just an assumption on my part. Bet he was unarmed as well.
Quote:Yea, the free market is really taking care of the lack of mental health care in America, let me tell you.

Government impedes the free market in health care, but you knew that before your attempt at snark.

Just responding to your comment. Did you feel the need for a gun in Europe?
Interestingly enough the USS George Washington is currently docked outside Brisbane, that thing is huge. US navy everywhere at the moment.

For any interesting purpose?

Drinking and enjoying the company of friendly Aussie women/men? Enjoying the gun free environment? No idea, good for the economy and good for service staff with your tipping culture.

Hopefully we'll learn one day.

Literally nothing about our healthcare system is free market hasn't been in a long time.

Are you actually arguing that there is no gun problem? Or do you just not care that there is one? What's your answer to the mass shootings? Or again do you not care?

The answer to mass shootings is in my truck when I leave the home, mounted on my wall when my wife is at home and on my hip when I go to the store.

As for the cause of violence perhaps we should look into how many of these young men where on psychopathic drugs.....

Well I hope if you are ever around during a mass shooting that the guy is nice enough to tell you in advance that he is about to shoot you so you can draw your gun and shoot him. Wouldn't it be nice to not be on a constant state of alert? Pretty sure people are on drugs in Australia yet no mass shootings since the legislation passed.

Just admit it, you don't want to give up guns because you enjoy having them and you aren't bothered if people die in the occasional mass shooting. Your right to a gun is more important than somebody else's right to live.
