  Week 14
Posted by: americus 2.0 - 12-08-2024, 04:15 PM - Replies (28)

Watching the Panthers making things difficult for the Eagles. This is not a runaway game by any means. 16-14 Panthers going into the 4th quarter. Chuba Hubbard will have a 1K+ yard season for the first time in his career. Saquon Barkley is doing Saquon Barkley things but Panthers D is making it harder for him.

Outside of the Steelers/Browns and Saints/Giants games the early game scores so far are close.

Looking forward to Bills and Chargers. I'm enjoying watching Buffalo this season.

*** Official Game Day Thread - Jags @ tittians ***
Posted by: flsprtsgod - 12-08-2024, 08:57 AM - Replies (193)

Ok, ok, ok. Everyone just take it easy.

I know it's game day, I know there's no thread yet.

It's just hard to get excited for the "How the heck did it get this bad" Bowl game coming at us today from NashVegas, Tennessee.

Your 2 and 10 Jaguars will battle the hated tennessee tittians today in a contest of "Who wants the #1 pick in the draft?" game of the week.

Our hero Trevor Lawrences was assaulted onto the IR last week by the newest Dirtiest Player in the Game, and will spend the rest of this year praying for offseason changes. Mac Jones will lead the offense again today, so don't expect much from that side of the ball. The defense is well...offensive, and expect much more of the same no rush, no cover, no tackle play we've seen all year.

It's a nice day outside, maybe we'll just all go mow the yard or something.

Commentary, Thoughts, Arguments, Blame Casting, and oh so much Snark to follow throughout the day from the 5 or 6 people who show up to watch.

Game time is at 1pm shown on CBS locally.

  The center position
Posted by: flgatorsandjags - 12-07-2024, 09:25 AM - Replies (50)

The center position is once again a need for us imo.  Morse started the season pretty strong but he has regressed almost each game this year it seems.  I think center is once again one of our biggest needs.  We need a center that can push the dline and that is good against the run.  Last years draft was one of the strongest center classes in recent memory and we missed out.  This year the center class is mech.  There are some decent prospects but none that great.  I think Tate Rateledge would be our best solution if we go center in the draft but we would likely have to take him with our 2nd round pick or trade form our 3rd back into the 2nd.  Tate has played RG at Georgia but he has practiced at C and they thought about playing him there.

If we dont get a center in FA or draft Rateledge my next choice would be  Jake Slaughter.  I watch every Florida game and Slaughter has had a great season, the only game I seen him struggle a bit was in the Ole Miss game against Walter Nolen who is one of the best lineman in the country. Slaughter is also the nations highest power 5 rated center. Ja Slaughter in the 4th might be great value if he makes it there. PFF has Colorado States Jacob Gardner as the highest rated center overall in college with a 88.1 grade but I havent seen him play and he goes agaisnt weak comp.  Maybe a late round pick for Gardner would be worth it.  Jared Wilson and Jake Majors would be 2 other options i would consider but Im not sure either could beat out Morse.

If we go center in the FA route Ryan Kelly would be a nice stop game option or we could sign Drew Malman if the Falcons dont resign him.  Malman is only 26 and his strength is run blocking.  We have to bring in a center that is a good run blocker and Malman is one of the best run blokcing centers in the league.  To fix this oline it needs to start in the middle and we have to uprade the center position and it needs to be a priority this offseason.

So in FA

Kelly - Stop gap
Malman

Draft

Rateldege
Slaughter
Wilson
Majors
Gardner

On the Jags roster

Morse
Forter

Thoughts on what yall think we should do at center next year?

Still paying the price for the 2020 draft?
Posted by: OG-JAGFAN - 12-06-2024, 09:05 PM - Replies (28)

I have never seen these guys before but they are making a whole lot of sense. The staple of a team is built through the draft.  Obvious the Jaguars have failed to get the talent.  They were saying this about the 2020 draft and just looked at it.  Wow it is so pathetic.  This is also a reflection from Khan who held onto Dave Caldwell and let him do it.

Jaguars 2020 draft:
Round Selection Player Position College Notes
1  ( 9 C. J. Henderson CB Florida
20  K'Lavon Chaisson OLB LSU from Los Angeles Rams
2  42 Laviska Shenault WR Colorado
3  73 DaVon Hamilton DT Ohio State
4   116 Ben Bartch OT Saint John's
137  Josiah Scott CB Michigan State from San Francisco via Denver
140  Shaquille Quarterman ILB Miami from Chicago
157  Daniel Thomas S Auburn from Baltimore via Atlanta
165  Collin Johnson WR Texas from Los Angeles Rams
189  Jake Luton QB Oregon State
206  Tyler Davis TE Georgia Tech from Seattle
7 223  Chris Claybrooks CB Memphis

Wow that is a Horrendous daft.  Hamilton was the best player from the group and he is no world beater.  Baalke was on the staff at the time.

Simple Poll Question? Will Khan do it?
Posted by: OG-JAGFAN - 12-05-2024, 02:06 AM - Replies (27)

Khan is much smarter than me and everyone on this board in certain aspects but very low IQ in others.  An analogy I would compare it to is A Brain surgeon maybe the brightest man in the room but I may not trust him to repair my engine.  Meaning everyone has their areas of strengths and weaknesses. It is clear as day to anyone who has a solid football IQ but Khan has shown time and time again that he is going to go his own path.  The problem is the Khan path has failed to work .
Khan has a history of ignoring the fan outcries. The clown mask fell on def ears.   It is no coincidence the team has the worst record of any NFL team by a long shot since he has owned the team.  62-145  is an accomplishment that is almost impossible to do in a league designed for parity. BAD Gm's, bad coaches, bad results, while slow to react or make a change.  I remember the fan outcries of firing Dave Caldwell and Khan stayed the course, I remember the outcries of Ice Cream Bradly and Khan stayed the course, the terrible Urban Meyer move, the way Tom Coughlin was handled, the consistent way Khan never cleans house. The New Regime gets poisoned from the remains of the old regime so the culture never changes

So The Question is Will Khan finally make a clean sweep?.

TWITAFCS Season 11 - Google Sheets

Board hiccuped this morning, so the emergency page is up and running on the linked sheet, feel free to bookmark and visit whenever the board is down.

We're down to a select few diehard pickers, unfortunately this season has been a bit of a drag for the AFCS. Not much unpredictability to make the picks exciting or challenging. Even still, diehards that we are, we're gonna see this thing through to the end, even if we all end up picking the same teams week in and week out.

We got one game this weekend, and we all know what it is. stinkin' tacks week. Two teams in the cellar, neither one with postseason aspirations, little more than bragging rights to be played for. Jag fans are either bloodthirsty or numb following Sunday's loss to the tinhorns, but really the score didn't matter once Lawrence was knocked out of the game. tack fans, well,  have trouble counting to eleven with socks on. Who knows what goes on in that little marble in their noggin. Probably what would happen if you cross-bred a hammerhead shark and a monster truck, I dunno.

So, you gotta pick one. Duval or tacks, one or the other.  Nobody really wins. Might be the perfect motto for the AFCS 2024.

Gimme the tacks because they are at home. Warshington gave up a bunch through the air last weekend, and I don't think we got the defense to slow their receivers down. We'll put up a fight, but yet again come up short, it's kinda what we do.

  Stinkin tacks week
Posted by: JagFan81 - 12-03-2024, 05:36 PM - Replies (33)

So the show goes on and this week we hit the home of inter-family marriages, that damn lot.

I know people are in tank mode. Trevors out, HC and GM are dead men walking and the team looks utterly defeated...but I want us to beat these guys. I can't ever hope we lose to them.

Weve got so many injuries and expected more fight from the team after the bye even if just for themselves but looks like everyone is done with this season

But beat the stinkin tacks please.

Either way, his performance cost him a ton of money in his contract year. Boselli said he was benched.
