The Offensive Line: This should get both Doug and Baalke fired if it does not work
Posted by: OG-JAGFAN - 03-10-2024, 04:00 PM - Replies (44)

Many things could change before next season. Doug and Baalke both believe they have their guys. Listening to them speak praises and actually resigning the same players. Cam looks to stay on the roster. Cleveland stunk for us but got a new deal. Scheriff has been average but is staying.  What they are saying is the players are good enough but it was the coaching and development was the problem. I disagree, I believe it's more Joe's over X's and O's.  Good players will still be good even without great coaching. We had probably the worst offensive line in the league last year. WE watched time and time again how they could not convert on 3rd and short and fourth and short. We watched Lawrence taking a pounding. We watched players in the backfield on running plays as soon as the ball was handed off. We watched this line get bullied most of the year.

"Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results." - Albert Einstein.

Doug and Baalke from their interviews seem to believe this line is not the problem.  So if this line fails again. These two should be blamed right after the season and handed their walking papers. Protecting the QB should be the top priority for this offense. He will have a very short career if we see a repeat of last year. I don't want to see another Joe Burrow(better when healthy than Lawrence IMO) where the injuries have added up and may cost him his career.

Mark Brunell - his final start came against the Colts where he went 12/23 for 90 yards passing and 0 TD. His last passing TD came against the Carolina Panthers in 2003. Brunell scored his final TD against the Bills, which was a rushing TD.

In 1995 Smith had 33 total yards vs the Oilers, 10 years later he had 46 total yards in his final game against the same team that moved their organization to Tennessee. If you include the postseason, Smith’s final game was against the Patriots in 2006 where he finished the game with 3 receptions for 30 yards and 0 TD on 9 targets.

Fred Taylor - his last game was in 2008, against the Bears where he rushed 13 times for 53 yards and 0 TD. His final TD was against the Texans. Taylor’s final 100 yard game was in 2008 against the Colts.

Jalen Ramsey - his last game was against the Titans in 2019, when he lined up on offense for the only time in his Jaguars career, he also had 1 FF in that same game. His final PD was against the Texans in 2019. His last interception was against the Steelers in 2018 where he finished the game with 2 interceptions. (Since leaving Jacksonville, Ramsey has now started more games as member of the Rams prior to him joining the Dolphins. He started 51 games as a member of the Jaguars and 56 games as a member of the Rams. Since leaving Duval, Ramsey has also made 2 All Pro selections, 3 Pro Bowl selections, with 3 playoff appearances).

John Henderson - his last game was against the Browns in 2005 where he finished the game with 7 combined tackles. His final sack was against the Bills in week 11 of the 2005 season, where he finished the game with 2 sacks and 1 FF.

Donovin Darius - his last game was against the Giants where he left the game with an injury. His final tackle was week 10 in 2006 against the Texans. Darius got his last interception against the Raiders in week 17 of the 2004 season, where he finished the game with 2 interceptions.

Mike Hollis - his last game was against the Bears in 2001, where he finished 0-1 on FG, and 0-1 on extra points. His last made FG was against the Chiefs.

Josh Scobee - his last game was against the Texans in 2014, where he went 1/2 on FG and 2/2 on XP and finished the game with 5 points.

Tony Boselli - his last game was against the Seahawks in 2001, which the Jaguars lost. Boselli’s final win was against the Titans.

Marcus Stroud - his last game was against the Panthers in 2007, where he finished the game with no stats. His last tackle was in 2007 against the Saints. His final sack was in 2007 against the Buccaneers, where he finished the game with a half sack.

Reggie Barlow - his last game was against the Giants in 2000 where he finished the game with 1 punt return for 0 yards. His final TD was against the Saints in 1999, where he had a punt returned for a TD. That was also his first start in his Jaguars career, where he finished the game with 178 all purpose yards and 1 TD.

Leon Searcy - his last game was in 1999 against the Bengals where the Jaguars won 24-7.

Tom Coughlin - last game was against the Colts in a 13-20 loss in 2002. His last win was against the Bengals where the Jaguars won 29-15 in 2002 in week 15.

As of right now, Keenan went out with the biggest bang.

On Friday, the NFL announced that the Jaguars received a third-round pick (No. 96 overall) and a sixth-round pick (No. 212 overall) for the losses of Jawaan Taylor and Arden Key, respectively. Taylor joined the Kansas City Chiefs in free agency on a four-year, $80 million contract while Key signed with the Tennessee Titans on a three-year, $21 million deal.

He will be signing autographs at the stadium at 2:30 PM in front of the Jaguar statute.

Former 2nd round pick finished his Jaguars career with:
2 interceptions

2 FR
452 combined tackles *most by a Jaguars safety..I think
4 straight seasons of 100 tackles

Not sure why he is signing autographs.

Should the Jags trade down in the 1st Round?
Posted by: Jagulars - 03-06-2024, 11:07 AM - Replies (61)

Could go any direction here. There are needs to be filled. There will likely be 7 draft picks to start out with. Trade or no trade, it will not upset me. My honest opinion:

Trade down in the 1st and grade more picks. It doesn't have to be a huge drop. Maybe a few picks down from the current spot. The ideal situation would be to have 4-5 picks in the first 3 rounds if possible. Aside from working primarily on the OL, you have to add some starters and depth on the DL and secondary. Adding a WR or possibly two. I don't see this team making multiple huge splashes in FA. Grab more picks and build through the draft. I would feel slightly better with Baalke having 9-10 picks than him having 7 picks. Few more chances to hit on a player that can contribute early. When the injury bug came last year, we saw that depth was lacking. Especially, on the OL and DL.
