Fowler Jr is a bust

If he looks good today I'm sure people will take it with a grain of salt and want to see more next year. Honest question for KYJaggy. If DFJ gets a sack today he exceeds Beasley's first year totals. Lol at people just believing that crap.
Prove it or GT.O. Dude has no pass rush moves and sometimes it's like he doesn't even try. I am a fan, not a cheerleader.
Straight from the horses mouth:
Quote:Former first round pick Dante Fowler felt miscast in his role as a left defensive end. Fowler succeeded in college with linebacker responsibilities. He felt the three-point stance made him one-dimensional. http://www.firstcoastnews.com/mb/sports/nfl/jacksonville-jaguars/exit-interviews-free-agency-roster-moves-jalen-ramsey-defensive-coordinator-scheme/381282679

I must admit that I had him in the bust category already. I was never very high on him and wanted Beasley over him, which I still would, but he has been very good. He still isn't a DE that you line up over a LT and say go get him, but the team is using him exactly how he should have been used from the start. They move him around a lot and use his speed to run a lot of games and twists. I have been impressed with how much his bull rush has continued to improve. I always thought he was an 8-10 sack per year guy that could make splash plays at big moments and he's now becoming that player. Far from bust if he keeps clean off the field.

Y’all dont go back to the beginning and read the comments. Way to much egg on the face and crow to pass around.
Just stumbled on this.....looks like between needing time to heal his knee and being misused by gus....he's finally starting to become a player under Marrone.
My how times do change. edit- "Three of the league's top 13 sack leaders (Calais Campbell, Yannick Ngakoue and Dante Fowler) wear a Jaguars uniform, with Campbell leading the league with 10 already. The team's 33 total sacks leads the NFL by nine and its nine forced fumbles are also tied for tops in the league."
Because Jaguars is our mantra

Quit being so emo just because we disagree over a quarterback on another thread.

Teams have been exploiting that OL all year, but the Jags couldn't because they have an absolute scrub at DE. What a difference a year makes, eh? Lol.
You either die as a good poster, or live long enough to become the troll.
I still haven't been that impressed. He isn't making very many impactful plays while the game still matters. He beats cellar dweller RTs (Giacomo dead last in pressures), a lot of TE and RB, and then he piles on at the end of blowouts.
Those two plays at the very end of the Jets game are really the only two plays that have opened my eyes as impact plays that actually might/should have mattered to the outcome. Other than that it looks like a guy who takes advantage of being the forgotten 4th best pass rusher on a dline that defenses just occasionally forget to account for. He had immaturity problems, and couple that with our luck with drafting and you can't blame the doubters. You can't deny the athleticism though.
Looks like all those years searching for DE's, one failure after another through either the draft or FA, we were finally rewarded with 3 pro-bowl caliber ones on the same team.

Before we go dredging up old threads, I think the fact highlighted above should temper, if not outright negate, all criticisms of the past. Gus was a new dimension of calamity whose effects are still felt, as witnessed by our bipolar record and poor performance at home games. It will take an entire season to cleanse this team of his legacy. |
