Hypothetical Trade idea - Deshaun Watson

Well we have a guy who says he would trade both of our first for Watson...

I think it's more likely that he will be a Jet. If I were the Dolphins, I wouldn't do it. Why do people act like Miami is so eager to get rid of Tua? He hasn't even played a full season yet and had over a 2 to 1 TD to INT. rate.

Deshaun Watson >>>> Tua by a longshot.

I know Tua's career is just a fart in the wind at this point in terms of # of games but I don't believe he will become a better player than Deshaun Watson as a one-for-one comparison.

And as a Jags fan, I'd love it if they got rid of Watson for Tua but they'd have to be braindead to do something like that unless the Dolphins give up a multitude of good draft picks.

Disagree. Everything about Tua is better.

If the Texans don't want a supposed "Franchise elite QB" then that guy is not really a top 5 QB.

I am as high on Tua as just about anyone, but at this point in his career, I'm not prepared to go that far.  Watson is a helluva QB.  Tua had some growing pains this year.

I hate to say this because I hate when people on the internet do this but like, are you one of those 50 year old white dudes who just can't stand black people are something? I gurantee if Andrew Luck was in his 4-5th year and we were in this same spot all of you would be all for it, even tho Watson has been better than luck through the first 4 years of his career..

You people act like Lawrence is a gurantee, Watson IS already top 10 if not top 5, and if we're talking the next 10-15 years, he's #2 behind Mahomes only.

You are talking to the wrong guy though, I always thought Luck was highly overrated for most of his career.

Whoa! Ive had agreements and big disagreements with IHaunting Raven but hes definitely not like that.

You like Watson, you rate him as #2 QB in the league potential, the rest of us dont doubt hes a good player but we dont rate him as highly as you and we are more than happy with Lawrence.

Maybe we can let the kid take a snap in the NFL before judging his NFL talent.

Can they trade Watson already. I am tired of people saying we should trade our number one pick for him.

I still think he ends up in chicago.. they desperately need a QB and they're out of the division..

I think they extend Trubisky.

That would be a severe mistake for their sake.

I think they give him a Blake extention and regret it next season.

I've yet to say anything stupid. Is the point of drafting Lawrence at #1 not to get an elite level quarterback? How in your tiny mind do you assume that a complete risk of drafting a college player who could or could not pan out is even remotely smarter than obtaining a young, already proven QB?

I'd say Watson is top 10-5 QB in the league as of right now, but when considering long-term i'd put him ahead of guys like Rodgers/Brees/Brady etc because they obviously aren't going to be around for the next 10-15 years. And don't get me wrong, i'm excited for Lawrence, but i'm also not ignorant. If vegas was to put betting odds on Watson being an elite QB throughout the rest of his career vs Lawrence, the line would be quite lopsided. My point is, proven player vs unproven. And for anyone who thinks Lawrence is a sure fire pick, should really go look back at his tape. He has the physical tools, seems like a really good kid, and has fairly good decision making as far as you can tell based on an extremely simple offense.

I'm not trying to be rude or start arguments, i'm just trying to point out that maybe some of the people on this board should look into him themself and stop listening to ESPN. I did that in 2017, and to me it seemed clear that Mahomes and Watson had real potential, and Trubiski looked like Bortles. Yet somehow the "experts" and even the Bears GM thought differently and we saw how that turned out. To me, Lawrence looks like a slightly less talented Justin Herbert (based on college alone)

This is a forum, it's perfectly fine for everyone to have differing opinions, but if people are going to call me stupid for pointing out extremely obvious observations I guess i'll just keep my opinions to myself.

If I was taking a QB currently in the NFL to lead my team for the next 10+ years, Mahomes is the only QB i'd take over Watson. Age + Talent they are 1a and 1b. So yes, I would bet my money on the guy i've seen play at a top 5 level over a college player who is hyped, not proven.

Not sure what you're trying to say?

The steelers thread was a joke about the fact that we usually can't even win at losing. And Doug Marrone is not that bad of a coach, when we had talent we went to the playoffs. I didn't say he was a great coach, but do you honestly think we would have gone to the AFCC game with Bradley or Mularkey?

He isnt younger, nor is he more talented than Josh Allen and if we want to look at numbers, he was better this year but last year he was on par with Minshew

Watson's biggest drawback is he edges into that territory of running quarterback. He's not a full blown one, but enough to make teams nervous about his long term viability. The guy has a rocket arm, but a little too often depends on his legs, with more than just a scramble, to extend a play.

That's how this armchair GM sees it, anyhow.
