Shad is slick. He knows long time fans and ticket holders are getting tired of years of nothing but promises. But the attractions bring in new fans, including those from the opposing team.

BB5 has the classic problem all rookies do, the game speed is beyond his ability to process it at times, and when that happens his mechanics flounder. The good thing is that he's made some really athletic plays at some of those times that show he's got the whole package if he can learn to use it all.

 

He also has the disadvantage of playing with other rooks who have the same problems and that, as management originally thought, could hinder his development this year.

 

The best part for us is that he's already good enough to overcome some of these issues at times, he just needs more playing time to put it all together.

 
Here is the bottom line.  If you put Manning or Brady behind this offensive line they would struggle as well.  If your line isn't good your offense won't be good.  We have maybe the worst line in the NFL.  Sorry but put any HOFer  behind this line and they struggle.

He's regressing because of the coaching, scheme, gameplan and lack of talent around him. 
He's being thrown to the wolves.

Throwing Beathard to the wolves won't be any different.
Might save Trevor from further injury, but... it won't alter the season or W/L column.

More important than Law's confidence is the rest of the team's. If they have started to believe he's a bust instead of agreeing he's wonderful and they all suck, then his road back is even further. If CJ starts and the results are no different then it is settled. If CJ does well then Lawrence has a model to follow. Time to make the switch.

Meyer said he'll be more involved moving forward with personnel decisions, especially at RB and WR.

You're 2 - 10. At what point does it take for a headcoach to step back and go?

Holy Jesus. This man needs to go ASAP. The best coaches in the NFL watch their staff and personnel like an Osprey dials in on it's prey.

Lawrence will be fine if the Jags:
1. Protect the QB
2. Find WRs that can catch
3. Develop an offense the creates favorable mismatches by formation
4. Find a creative OC
5. Fire Urban; he’s out of his depth

I got to thinking the other day, one of the position coaches that definitely needs an upgrade is QB Coach. Schottenheimer just isn't developing Trevor Lawrence like he should. With that said, I have a candidate in mind. I don't even know if this candidate would be interested in coaching, but he is extremely knowledgeable and seems like he has the kind of temperament to do a good job. What about Tony Romo? It amazes me that when he is calling a game, he seems to know almost every play that is coming. He has a knack for reading defenses and he has an engaging personality. If he could pass that knowledge on to Trevor, it would be a huge step in his development. Like I said I have no clue if Romo is even interested in coaching, especially since he has a really cozy job calling games, but I believe he has the type of makeup to be a very good NFL coach.
