Perhaps the Eagles decided they could trade him, instead of cutting him?

Looks like they are intending to keep him now. Hours after saying they were going to cut him

We probably couldn't afford him. The market seems crazy. Taven Bryan gets 4.5 million from the Colts...

....is Ryan Grigson back!!?!?!

Other the a tweet from a fan do you have a source on this?   I didn't see anything saying we were calling on Slay.  It started with a tweet from Fred then a tweet from Campbell that made people get excited.  It's been proven Dilla doesn't have a inside source anymore, that was years ago man lol. He hasn't broke anything since Baalke is the GM and the new FO.   Dude could tweet Brady is coming here and you would believe it lol.

Ok so the Eagles can have imaginary money but we can’t?

I swear it feels that way dosen't it. Like how did the Rams a few years ago afford all of those guys they traded for at the same time, it made no sense..

He does have a source but its not on the football operations side; It's someone in the team President or business operations type department. As in they'll hear whats happening in the building before anyone else but obviously it won't be the quick inside scoop everyone expects.

He's also more gun shy ever since the Byron tweet about confirming anything.
Championship Formula:

1) Draft Trevor Lawrence!
2) Play good physical Defense!
3) Keep 91% of the roster healthy!
4) ???
5) Blank #2
6) CHAMPIONSHIP!!!

It's obvious he still knows someone that's involved in some way.  Along with the Byron stuff, he had a post alluding to something happening just before the Ridley trade and the Athletic Podcast guys even mentioned that we were looking in to Slay yesterday so that checks out for him too.  He isn't as direct about anything anymore after all the Byron stuff.  He's mentioned us being interested in Poona Ford so it'll be interesting if anything ever comes of that.

Oh. So I’m not just making stuff up? Lol

Dilla isn’t perfect but he certainly does hear a lot about what happens around the league. And you’re totally right, he jumped the gun on Byron and now he’s more shy to bring up certain things.

There were tweets all over saying a move was in the works before the trade was announced, it was no secret we just didnt know whonit was.  I believe it was Mia the first one to break the news on the Ridley trade.  There were tweets by Fred, then Campbell, Slay responded with the eyes emoji.  He did the same things with one of the Ravens players etc. That's what everyone got excited about and then tried to run with it like it was really something lol.  Teams weren't going after him yet because he was never even cut.  His agent wasn't going to waste his time discussing a new contract with a team when Slay was still under contract with the Eagles, not even sure if that's legal being he was under contract.  The Eagles would have to give permission and that was never announced and it's clear now that they still wanted him.

I've been following dude for years and he does see a lot of tweets first and he follows different beat writers for a lot of different teams.   He also posts some good [BLEEP] but he will see a tweet and try to run with it to be the first one whether it's real or someone just made it up.  He definitely used to know someone in the building but it's been clear as day that he doesn't anymore.  Everything yall have said he has brought up, none of it has happened.  I'm trying to think of the last time he broke news first on a Jag signing like he used to?    I think it was Eifert.

All I'll say is that sometimes it is useful to have someone leaking information.

Slay was literally given permission to seek a trade days prior to the report he was going to be cut.  Given that, teams would have absolutely been in contact with him, and with the reports he was cut it's not surprising teams were actively contacting him.  Hell, even Slay and his wife were tweeting after the report as if he was in fact about to be cut and they were on the way out.

He was still the first person to call the Byron news, and despite the fact that that fell through, it was corroborated by several other reporters that we were prepared to hire him when Dilla claimed it.  He absolutely jumped the gun on it though, and he's been more reserved as a result.

I would expect there are only 4 people that know the actual plan. Any leaks would by design. Kind of like what Philly just did.

Call the false news?  Lol  The one Tampa beat writer, can't remember his name, is the one that reported it that it was a done deal.  They were in talks with Byron and it was never a done deal, Byron was trying to play GM and bring in his own boss as a first time head coach and Shad wasn't having it. A few in the twitter world always want to be the first one to break the news whether they know if it's true or not, they might of seen the tweet first.

Yes, we were fully prepared to hire Leftwich until late in the negotiations where there was no agreement on who would be GM.  Dilla was the first to post anything with his "Lefthich is the new HC" tweet.  Talks fell through, and Rick Stroud and various Jags reporters later said it was almost a done deal.  As has been said numerous times, he absolutely jumped the gun on it and posted something that wasn't 100% a done deal, but that doesn't mean he didn't have info that it was close.

Bingo.  He had 3 void years already 24-25-26 and was a free agent after next season. They had to do something or cut after June.

This is still unknown and he say she say.  I do believe he was a serious candidate but there were also a few others. Thats the whole point of the interview process, do all the interviews get all the info and then make a final decision.  Him reporting false information doesnt mean that he had inside info lol. The only ones that know this are the ones that were sitting in the interviews, which was likely just Shad and Baalke and I highly doubt either called or text him to let him know Byron was going to be the next coach.  The Raiders temp coach was also a serouous candidate
