What's worse?

Waiting for someone to insert a chip and press 7 keystrokes?

Or -

Waiting on some kid wildly flailing his apple watch in the general direction of a register 23 times and repeating "Did it read it yet?" over and over and over and over...

What is worse is having a purchase come to say $19.28 and you hand the cashier a $20 bill and 3 pennies.  They don't know how much change to give you without entering it into the register (computer).

As much as I agree, that’s what you get from kids making 8/hr.   That and people who are unable to correctly put a lid on a drink.  I’m not even sure if it’s a stupid thing, or just not giving a [BLEEP] thing.

I prefer the brain dead 17 year old actually. Much better than the 40 year old whose been there for half her life and feels every customer is just craving for a in depth conversation. I'm buying beer and ready made meals, how much social skills do you think I have?

Also, pennies suck and you lot need to get rid of them like we did over here.

I saw a quarter laying on the ground and left it lay. Change is a nuisance in my pocket. I thought, if I pick this up, what am I going to do with it? Nothing I want can be bought for 25 cents anymore and where will I put it.

You, uh, do realize that every transaction has to be keyed into the computer, right? They don't just open the change drawer like you did back in the 1890s there grandpa.

It's so rare that I spend coins, I don't recall the last time. I think i dug some out of the bottom of my luggage at some far-flung airport to get a soda from a machine as the vendors were all closed at a late hour.

I empty pocket change into a two gallon jar at home and annually bring it to the bank before embarking on a vacation. It's essentially my travel-tequila fund.

I use quarters quite frequently.  Usually on the weekends on my way out to our farm I use them to buy ice for my coolers from a machine on the way out there.  I also on occasion will use one of those "pressure washer" type car washes if my truck gets too dirty or muddy driving on the dirt roads around Keystone Heights.

I do the same as you with the rest of my pocket change.  However, I opened up a savings account when my grandson was born and I put the money in there.  On average it's usually around $50 or so each time I deposit my pocket change and over the years (my grandson is 10) it has become quite a decent chunk of change for him when he gets older.

It is.  But if you don’t have grandchildren, you’re in the clear.  If you don’t have any kids, then it almost has to be poolside tequila money.

The more I think about this, if JIB is using quarters for ice, and pennies at the cashier, it sounds like he’s nickel and diming his grandson.  Ole’ NYC and Rico aren’t looking too bad right  now.   Big Grin

No, what time is it yesterday? YES, RIGHT NOW!

As I’ve stated on here before, red light rollers. Those people who continuously inch forward at red lights so they can get a 2 millisecond head start on everyone else.
Yesterday I watched some fool do a double threat. He became bored after rolling halfway into the intersection and the light remained red, so into his phone he went. The light turned green and the driver behind had to honk to get him to go.

Those coins (and all change from cash transactions) go in the kids' piggy banks. They watch the banks get heavier and heavier, then we roll the coins and take them to the bank. my son has a pretty nice car fund saved up, and he's only 10! (hi-five, jib!)

Nothing makes them happier than finding a coin on the ground. Except when the coin has been sitting in the sun all day, then they immediately regret the decision to drop it in their pocket!

BUT, the other day I gave the guy a 10 and 2 singles for a bill of $6.38. Dude kept trying to hand me the singles back, before any keystrokes on the newfangled money box. Couldn't fathom that I wanted a fiver in my pocket, and not five singles.

I remember about 20 years ago i worked at Penney’s after school. Occasionally, I’d be handed just like what Mikey said. The person was always older. They always just give you the look like, you’ve got no clue what to do. I knew damn well what they were up to. But the fact that I was given the look always pissed me off. As luck would have it, one day that happened and I didn’t have much cash in the drawer. I accepted the cash and and change and gave him back all singles including a few he had originally gave me. He wasn’t happy and demanded whatever it was a five or a ten or whatever. Felt the need to fully explain his intentions. It was quite demeaning. I just said that I was fully aware and I hope he was fully aware I wasn’t a bank. I offered to exchange some of the singles for quarters if he wanted. He stormed off.

LOL.  My spare change isn't the only source of funds for his savings account.   Wink

I'm not saying it's always the case, there are certainly math-challenged individuals among us.
