Honestly it might be the white numbers that were out of place on that combo.  If they were black numbers to match the black pants it might have flowed well color wise.  But that would have looked out of place for that time in the NFL.  
Remember the Bortles era teal alternates with black numbers? I kinda liked those.  What did everyone else think?

That teal top with black pants combination, along with the all black look at home and all the white look on the road was always my favorite. It's a shame because of that old Jaguar lawsuit that we can't officially rock the OG looks anymore. Teal is our primary color though. Teal tops at home with white pants is still cool. I don't like white tops with teal pants. Think that's fugly. Would rather see white tops with black pants on the road at all times. 

I sound like my wife right now. Ugh.
