The overhead bins fill up quickly and it’s amazing how much is packed into them. Miniaturized steamer trunks. Back when I traveled routinely for work, I could see it becoming more of an issue. Nah man. Some people like me are usually able to travel light so they don't have to go to baggage claim. This would unfairly penalize those and it would also entice people to pack more weight onto the plane in their free larger checked bag instead of making smarter and more efficient packing decisions and it would probably increase ticket prices for everyone as a result. I don't fly a ton, but I've never not been able to find overhead space when I fly and I'm usually in the last group to board because I'm cheap and almost always shop on price. They should just enforce overhead bin limitations per seat. People that try to put their personal item up there should be forced to either hold onto it or put it under the seat in front of them. Fly Southwest if you want the free checked bags... you'll notice they're usually higher on price on comparable direct flights so you're essentially paying for that checked bag whether you want it or not. |
