So, are we going for Super Bowl or bust?

You can make short term sacrifices along the way that may make your team less competitive now but more competitive in future years. Like Vic said, that's not the real goal for a franchise even though it may be for us as fans. As a franchise, if you make the playoffs enough, eventually you'll get hot and win it but ultimately the real goal is sustained success over time. The Superbowl win is the reward.

It's about selling tickets and while winning a Superbowl certainly helps in that area, you only need to look to our own franchise, the Browns, and numerous others who rarely if ever even sniff the playoffs, much less the Superbowl. Still selling merch and tickets. And yeah, I agree adding "or bust" means major consequences. And I would say those consequences would fall on a front office that has made enough questionable moves (Bortles ext, LF pick, avoiding drafting a QB and paying big bucks for Foles, perhaps not paying Yan) I mean... honestly, if Foles isn't the answer Tom or Dave or both should not be given any more passes, imo. And no... if we win 9 or better, and make the playoffs that is good enough for Khan to keep it all in tact for one more season. In which we likely see one final push from this front office before likely it all falls apart. And then what are we doing? Trading Ramsey? Rebuilding? Looking for another QB, again? The FA QB move, to me, is that last hurrah. If it works, we should be battling for a chance to play in the big game, if it doesn't it will have serious implications that no one should be safe from. This team making the playoffs and not advancing isn't a death sentence or signal of extended purgatory. It could mean they are on their way to bigger things the following season but need another piece or two. Now - to your other point - if Foles crashes and burns we have a very different situation on our hands. But this team is not likely making the playoffs if Foles crashes and burns. I don't envision a perfect storm of defense and run game carrying the load to the AFCCG again. The Foles implications on the front office and this notion of "Super Bowl or Bust" are really two different things although one affects the other. So, it may be a little late for me to ask this question, but anyway, what does "or bust" mean?

I'd interpret it as "or heads will roll in the F.O. and coaching staff" but that's just me. And it's why I don't think this team is in a SB or bust season. They'd have to first be perceived as one or two pieces away from being serious SB contenders - and then land those one or two pieces in the offseason to look at it that way. The Jags still have too many unproven starters (at at least 5 positions) to be able to look at a season as SB or bust. They may have hit on all of these players but they will all likely start and we don't really know what they'll produce: Foles Taylor Swaim Oliver Williams Wilson Then you can add in the new offense under DeFilippo which may take a minute to gel also. I didn't even know that tick counter existed lmao. That is funny, i'll give you that. Problem is, Mariota is not a QB of the future, Henry is average to above average at best, and your defense IS suspect. Listen, Im no foles believer, but i know he is an upgrade over BB5. Whether good enough to take that cap hit, is another question but better. Just wait till Thursday Night, thats all i'm going to say.

I refuse to believe we just hurt ourselves via the cap to just compete and make excuses for if we dont make the playoffs. Playoffs or bust, anything else is asinine. This is my take as well. This team has the talent to go deep into the playoffs. Mediocre coaching/leadership should be able to get the job done. If we don't make the playoffs this season, there should be extensive housecleaning.

To be honest, i don't know how extensive it should be; but we need to roll some heads. Foles needs to be night and day different for us to pass on drafting a QB, this year or next, hands down.

Accuracy only goes so far when you can't stay healthy. Talk about broken half the year lol Henry is only great against the Jaguars. No doubt Ramsey is going to make us pay. He's a superstar. Sorry your team doesn't have any of those? Telvin Smith "quit". Who cares? He's just a WLB. Dime a dozen.
