I dont think its SB or bust but the goal should always be win the SB.

The ultimate goal is to win the Super Bowl.  The best way to do that is to get into the playoffs as often as possible  The worst way to do that is to mortgage the future and take wild chances.  

So that's why I say, I would rather have a team that consistently makes the playoffs, rather than a team that is super great one year and lousy the next 5 years.  

I remember the last time we took wild chances and mortgaged our future for one more try at a Super Bowl, and it was no fun going through the tearing down of our roster in order to get under the salary cap, and firing the best coach we ever had.  

Look at the Giants just a few years ago.  They went 10-6, and won 4 road games, including the Super Bowl.  

Just. Get. In.  If you do that every year, you maximize your chance of winning the Super Bowl.

The only way to win a SB is through the playoffs, so if you make to the playoffs you're on the path to your goal.  Who wouldn't want to make the playoffs every year?

as a fan I kind of am.
As you said, we gave big money to a free agent QB. We have had a top tier D the past 2 seasons. And we have current players that COULD be leaving us if we don't have the means (or want) to resign them (Ramsey, Yan, Jack, other notable big time FAs that have made an impact)

I see this as the perfect scenario for a window slamming shut, if... QB doesn't pan out, defensive stars don't stick around... etc etc.

This team making the playoffs and not advancing isn't a death sentence or signal of extended purgatory.
It could mean they are on their way to bigger things the following season but need another piece or two. 

Now - to your other point - if Foles crashes and burns we have a very different situation on our hands. But this team is not likely making the playoffs if Foles crashes and burns.  I don't envision a perfect storm of defense and run game carrying the load to the AFCCG again. 

The Foles implications on the front office and this notion of "Super Bowl or Bust" are really two different things although one affects the other.

And it's why I don't think this team is in a SB or bust season.  
They'd have to first be perceived as one or two pieces away from being serious SB contenders  - and then land those one or two pieces in the offseason to look at it that way. 
The Jags still have too many unproven starters (at at least 5 positions) to be able to look at a season as SB or bust. 



They may have hit on all of these players but they will all likely start and we don't really know what they'll produce:

Foles
Taylor
Swaim
Oliver
Williams
Wilson

Then you can add in the new offense under DeFilippo which may take a minute to gel also.
