Divisional Positional Rankings-Offensive Skill Positions
|
The title says it all.
QB 1. Andrew Luck-Colts: Shoulder is a major concern 2. Marcus Mariota-Tacks-Progressing nicely until he broke his leg vs. Jacksonville. Has new weapons. 3. Blake Bortles-Jaguars-Can rebound...but will he? 4. Tom Savage-Texans-Short term guy until Watson is ready RB 1. DeMarco Murray-enjoyed bounce back season in "exotic smashmouth" offense 2. Lamar Miller-Houston-just a guy 3. Leonard Fournette-by the end of this season, will be at the top of this list 4. Frank Gore-probably in his final season WR 1. Deandre Hopkins-Houston 2. T.Y. Hilton-Indy: undersized but has produced in a big way 3. Allen Robinson, Jaguars-Coming off a down season, but still capable of changing a game 4. Eric Decker-Tacks-a nice target for Mariota and good complement to Davis 5. Allen Hurns, Jaguars-Injury plagued season 6. Donte Moncrief-Colts 7. Will Fuller-Texans-has speed to burn 8. Marqise Lee, Jaguars-finally put together a healthy season. 9. Corey Davis-Has drawn lofty comparisons. May be at the very top of this list before long. 10. Rishard Matthews, Tacks 11. Phillip Dorsett, Colts TE 1. Delanie Walker-Tacks 2. C.J. Fiedorowicz-Texans 3. Marcedes Lewis, Jags-May be end of the road for long time vet 4. Eric Swoope, Colts. Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!

The crazy thing about this list is with the possible exception of Andrew Luck all of these guys are so unproven that it's hard to make an argument for anyone above anyone except for Walker in the TEs. I might put Hilton over Hopkins and Hurns over Decker, and I don't think it's crazy to rank Fournette over Miller even though he's never been on an NFL field. If Fournette isn't the best back in the division this season then Caldwell made a really stupid selection. The division is right there for the Jaguars to take if Marrone can get them to focus. The Hopkins over Hilton order reflects, in part, my preference for bigger, more physical receivers. Hopkins is no Andre Johnson, but he is plenty physical. Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!

Miller is probably just as good as Gore is right now, but Gore is a legend so I give him the edge. Consider that Gore has had 9 seasons going over 1000 yards including this past season, and only two of those were under 1100 yards. Miller only has two seasons over 1000 yards, and both were under 1100 yards.

The previous post was saying that if 4net isn't great, Caldwell sucks. ...so this post is suggesting that if 4net is great, the previous poster would instead be saying that Coughlin... not Caldwell... made a great pick.

What I don't understand is why someone would suggest I'm someone that would attempt to minimize Caldwell's accomplishments. Because the majority of this board still has to put labels on who they believe picked who and they love to use it whenever it fits their opinion. "Oh I didn't like the pick from the beginning, he definitely must be a Caldwell pick." "Man I love that pick, what a great pick. Coughlin really is putting this team together." etc etc etc Not saying you said those things above, but that's what we've seen far too much and sadly will continue to see from people.

I was tempted to stagger everyone down and drop Decker to where he'd squeeze in at the 10th spot. Because I like his (Moncrief) production in the red zone. But I think he'll end up getting lost a bit in the shuffle this year between Dorsett and Hilton. It was hard not to list Decker though. Even with the injuries and the age I still think he's capable of producing just as good as anybody on that offense. Especially with a great red zone QB in Mariota and with a run first / run heavy offense. I also expect big things this year out of Will Fuller with a QB like Watson unafraid to throw it up and Corey Davis playing opposite of Rishard Matthews. ![]() "What do I know of cultured ways, the gilt, the craft and the lie?
