According to PFT, the Jags assumed his contract. That means all the rights and obligations. (the good and the bad). The clawback provision is a right that was inherited.

Based on what (little) I know about contracts, that would be correct. Therefore until I see a link saying the Jags do not have that right, I'll assume they do.

I formed this opinion after watching Cam get thoroughly abused by Derek Barnett, when Alabama played Tennessee last season. Robinson was slow to get off the ball and Barnett used a combination speed/bull rush with a spin move to beat him like a drum. Barnett ended the game with 2 TFL 1 sack, 1 Interception and a forced fumble. Somebody the caliber of J.J. Watt is gonna destroy Cam.

He'd get help against JJ from TEs and scheme's away from him. I'm more concerned about JJ vs Parnell.

Barnett is a special player. I recall a few fans here wanting him over Fournette and all other DLs at #4. While I don't like hearing this, it doesn't change the opinion of virtually everyone involved with LSU that Cam projects to be a 10-year starter at LT in the NFL.

Let's see how he turns out. The Jaguars coaches are no doubt giving him plenty of extra attention, and just watching him compared to the other OLs on the roster I'm impressed with what I'm seeing.

Barnett was a special player in college, but in the NFL, Robinson will be asked to block guys the same or better than Barnett was on a weekly basis. As for people believing he would be a true franchise LT prospect in the NFL, if that was true, why did he last until round 2? Franchise LT's almost always get taken in the top 20 picks, especially when they come from big, dominant schools. I even saw many projections before the draft that had Robinson listed as an OG only. 

I'm definitely willing to see how things turn out, mainly because I have no choice. Based on what I saw when scouting him last year, I'm not very confident though. As for comparing him to other O-Linemen on our roster, that's not saying much. Linder is the only guy I have confidence in and we did absolutely nothing to upgrade the interior. We really won't know what we have until the games actually start though. Training Camp is not a good barometer to evaluate talent. We probably won't have a true sense of the level of our team until week 6 of the regular season.

We've known for some time that our offensive line has been the ongoing weakness on this team. Yet, we used draft picks on more receivers, etc. Now, we are literally on the cusp of being forced once again to put a patched together o-line on the field. This does not bode well for the season.

It's probably a blessing in disguise for the Jaguars that Branden Albert retired now than later on this summer.  At least this way,  Cam Robinson will get more practice reps with the starters and the team can make alternative depth plans at the position.

The Jaguars already freed up Brenden's entire $8.9 mil cap hit. There's nothing more to collect. As for the $3.4 mil signing bonus in Albert's bank account, that's in the Dolphins cap as dead money. He didn't quit on the Dolphins, so they can't go after this either. Albert successfully banked every penny.

Since Watt often rushes against guards, I'm more concerned about Cann and whoever lines up at LG going against him.

Next, I worry about Parnell against Watt/Mercilus.

I think Robinson v. Clowney is a concern, but it is the lowest of all of the concerns vs. the Texans.

That's not a knock on Clowney at all (or Mercilus for that matter).  I was a huge fan of his at So. Carolina, and I think now that the Texans came to their senses and let him put his hand on the ground, he is becoming the player they hoped he would be.  I think Robinson is capable, even though he may have some rookie vulnerabilities.
