I have not... don't lump me in with you losers. (I have long said Bortles needs to perform better, and I believe with training and coaching he can)

I still have belief he can turn it around this season.
I have high expectations of Bortles this season and if he fails to meet those expectations I will certainly be ready to move on from him. Lucky for me, the team will too, and I won't have to wallow for a half a season and an offseason about it.

I don't want Bortles benched right now.
I want him to succeed. He's my quarterback.

I guess if you point out that he needs to improve, you've become part of the bibber brigade.

Most fans, including more optimistic folks believe Bortles needs to be better.  They see the potential to be a solid starter, but they also recognize that his biggest obstacle appears to be the lump sitting on top of his shoulders.  If he can overcome that, he can certainly be a serviceable starting QB on a team that just needs him to get to that level in order for them to see their fortunes turn for the better.

I think the majority of Jaguar fans want to see him succeed, because they recognize that if he does turn the corner, so does the team. That doesn't mean there are no concerns if you support the starting QB. Clearly there are issues.

What I find kind of amusing is the fact that many of the people who have made their bones on this board by trashing Bortles were the same people who defnded David Garrard. Bortles has statistically proven to be a better QB by setting multiple franchise records in his first 3 years. Garrard was limited because of very much the same issues as Blake, except for in one area. Garrard always second guessed passing the ball, and would avoid mistakes by checking down. Bortles should probably think twice before unloading in certain situations, but he doesn't. The thing we liked about Blake coming into the league was the gunslinger mentality. That comes with consequences. Even the greats like Favre were plagued with interceptions and missteps along the way. But, they were also surrounded by very good teams that could compensate when the QB didn't, and in Favre's case, he had the ability to rise up and produce when the team really needed it. We need to see that from Blake, and so far it just hasn't happened. Hopefully it will.
Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

I made an update to this thread to enable Live Threading. I know this isn't a chat room, but until we are able to find one that works well, we wanted to try this out.

Head over to the post in the Board Feedback subforum with the comments.

This is something that we are testing, so we are not exactly how reliabiliy it will work here, but in testing it does nicely.
For right now, Live Threads will ONLY work when you are on the last (most recent) page of the thread. New posts will just appear
Please direct the comments regarding this feature to the "Live Threads" post in the "Board Feedback" subforum.

I vowed a few years ago to not give a crap about what happens in a preseason game. The first couple of games we looked like a physical smash mouth team. Then the regular season happened...
No pain, no gain.
