The same coaches that have this team at 6-3 with the best defense in the league? Oh yea... they're terrible.

But on the Bortles topic, he's still the same guy. Chargers dropped how many interceptions? Jags needed him to step up and he threw 2 interceptions in the last 2 minutes. If it weren't for this defense creating 2 timely turnovers, Jags don't win this game.

Jags are gonna need Blake to be great in crunch time to win some playoff games. Are we sure he can do that?

C'mon Cleatwood. The same coaches who had 3 timeouts left with a minute left in the half and didn't even TRY to get in FG range. It is hard to deny the coaching and game plan yesterday wasn't garbage and we won in spite of it.

Agree so much, not to mention going for it on 4 and 6? The defense covered a lot more than just the offensive mistakes, everything but the D was pretty much at losing level.

Hurns had 2 or 3 fantastic catches where he had to adjust for balls being thrown behind him. The announcers highlighted that a few times yesterday; "Hurns with a terrific catch adjusting to that ball thrown well behind him."


Bortles had a terrific drive in the 3rd, but "Mr. Drops the Ball Lee (one of the "worst" in the league)" made two FANTASTIC catches in the end zone for the TD and the 2pt conversion. 
He had to be a ballerina to get his feet inbounds on the TD,, and was nearly on the ground laying out for that 2 pt try. 
Lee was awesome on those plays. 


The Chargers took advantage of the the Jags MASH unit Oline, and gampelanned to stack against the run to stop it, forcing Bortles to beat them. Their plan worked except for only a couple drives. 

I'm good with Bortles if he doesn't make dumb mistakes at crunch time (he's been pretty good this year with that, until crunch time yesterday).

BTW:
Case Keenum is 7-2 with the Vikings right now. Case freaking Keenum! 

So, that just goes to show you that ,yes, if the rest of the team is superb, that ANY QB can be successful.

I've watched a ton of the Vikings this year and with confidence I'd say we'd be 8-1 with Keenum as our QB.

Blake deserves credit for being one of the toughest quarterbacks in the NFL. No doubt, the depleted offensive line made it very difficult for him as he was constantly pressured. HOWEVER, he threw 2 interceptions in crunch time and should have ended up with a total of 4 "picks" if not for the Chargers dropping a couple including a sure "pick 6."

Sometime following this season (hopefully after the Jaguars win at least one playoff game), Tom Coughlin and Dave Caldwell will be having their final discussion about who they should target as the team's quarterback moving forward. It should go something like this:

Coughlin: " Dave, what are your thoughts about our quarterback position next season?"

Caldwell: " Well, Tom, I'm glad you asked. I know Blake has his faults, but he took us to the 2nd round of the playoffs and even though he threw
5 interceptions and fumbled twice in our playoff loss, he deserves one more year and we can still draft someone in the 2nd round in
case he fails to improve."

Coughlin: "Dave, remind me to never again ask your opinion on the quarterback position. Bortles had zero chance of returning after he nearly

That being said, Bortles is one of the worst starting quarterbacks in the NFL. Have our expectations of him dropped so low that his supporters actually think he played o.k. yesterday? Not only is his lack of accuracy a big problem, but the guy is just not "wired" to handle adversity. His career will continue as a backup on another team like Blain Gabbert, so I wouldn't feel too sorry for him.

He threw more than “a” bad ball. It’s been more than 20 years since a QB threw 2 picks in the final 2 minutes and still won the game. Bailed out big time twice when it mattered most. The defense won that game.
