They’ve managed to pick a player who is neither the best available player nor a need.

He was their best available player and they are filling a hole a year before they have to with a player who's ceiling is higher than most defensive players in this draft.

Some of those "pressures" are actually plays where the interior defensive linemen are allowed to penetrate the line of scrimmage to get them out of the way. Influence blocking, including trap blocks tends to move lesser talented defensive linemen to a side allowing the ball carrier through the spot the lineman should have stood tall and anchored himself. The trick is to know when to pass rush and know when to run stop. He doesn't indicate he has a knack for reading the offense or have much situational awareness. How did this get missed by the scouts? Watch again and see how many times Bryan is allowed to squirt through the line only to discover the ball breezed right by him.

Did you catch the personal foul roughing the passer? By NFL standards, the QB knock-down early in the game - the long screen gainer - would constitute a personal foul - fifteen yard march off.

Most of the "double-teaming" Bryan isn't out of respect for a fearsome pass rusher, it's due to having a spare blocker remaining active during the play. Florida State's offensive line tended to double-team him at first. After a while they became acquainted with his level of play and Bryan was easily knocked to the turf by a single offensive lineman.

Essentially, to the trained eye, Bryan is a warm body. Yeah he can snap to attention quick, but usually he gets tall and bowled over pretty easy. As others may mention he spends most of the game on the turf and I'll add...the other half dusting off the dirt.

Unfortunately, this is another case where a Florida Gator football player is media-hyped and somehow slips through the draft process and into the first round. Most Gator fans are blushing. Most Jaguars' fans are stupefied that it has happened again.

So the highlights are of him facing a wildcat spamming offense and screens? How does that translate to the NFL? I saw a crazy amount of holding too and the only one that was called was the end of the game one. Limited experience only a 1 year starter but the explosiveness and high motor is there. This is where coaching comes in.
No pain, no gain.

Just a question. "To the trained eye, he's essentially a warm body", is what u stated. Who has the trained eye to make such a determination? you?

Chark is a great pick and value. Good stuff.

Chark was the fastest receiver at the NFL combine. A 4.34 wow!
