Colvin, Telvin and Westbrook right around the same area with various risk concerns.  Colvin, not so much, just the Senior Bowl ACL

That's right around the upper limit and could have played into why he went undrafted.

You just need to drop the height thing and chalk one up to being incorrect about it.

Linder is also 6' 6"

Jaylen Samuels had a lot to do with that. The Swiss Army Knife serves nicely as a pressure valve. Too bad the Steelers took him. He is the kind of back Bortles needs frequently.

Richardson is my favorite pick of the draft for us. The guy is an absolute stud. I doubt he plays any OG, but I believe if he stays clean, he will beat out Jeremy Parnell for the starting RT position. He's younger, cheaper and better in pass protection. His run blocking is pretty darn good too. Had he not had some of the field issues, he would've gone on day 2.

Don't think he will be beat out Parnell. Parnell's coming off the best year of his career ,didn't allow any sacks.

Parnell did have a good year, I'm not saying he didn't, but Richardson is like a younger, cheaper version. Why keep the more expensive, older version of the same player? If Richardson is neck and neck with Parnell after the preseason, the decision will be an easy one. I believe Parnell is gonna have to play significantly better than Richardson to keep his job.

Listening every player on the roster once in a depth chart looks something like (newly signed UDFAs in plain text)...

  • LT: Cam Robinson, Josh Wells, William Poehls
  • LG: Andrew Norwell, Chris Reed, Avery Gennesy
  • C: Brandon Linder, Tyler Shatley
  • RG: AJ Cann, Brandon Thomas, Tony Adams, Josh Walker
  • RT: Jermey Parnell, Will Richardson, KC McDermott

No my argument is that I don't see Richardson playing at a similar level to Parnell in year 1. He has a decent sized adjustment from N.C State.

To be honest I don't see him at guard either year 1. Although I'd definitely give it a go.

I don't expect him to beat out Parnell, but Parnell is old and won't be around all that much longer.

Agree totally with this. I believe he could easily beat Cann, but I just don't see the team kicking him inside.

I don't see Parnell being un seater. I see Richardson being a Swing Tackle.

I'm just going to sit back and watch and see how it plays out throughout preseason. If the rookie earns the spot, more power to him. If not, Parnell has been solid as of late. It's a win, win.

Parnell when healthy is a very good player and has done very well last season.

That said I have to say that after Richardson selection I've watched a few of the games he played and have to agree: this guy seems to be really good and has the potential to take over for Parnell if 2018 will be his last season here. Certainly great depth/competition to have in any case and will have time to improve his strenght a bit too.

I don't think they plan to try him inside instead of Cann at the moment but Marrone/Flaherty love trying out different combination of Olines during training camp so it will be definitely an intriguing storyline to follow.
If he shows he can play G too he would pair up well with Parnell and run blocking could really improve on that side too.

Yea, I love all the content and discussion that 02 brings to the board, but sometimes I wonder how long he has been footballing.

Yea, it was a wasted pick? You're laughable with some of your tales. He played an integral role on our team that went to the AFC championship and had a top 3 defense last year. He took the money because that's what you should do. Careers are short and contracts aren't guaranteed. Teams are unloyal to players all the time. Take the money while you can get it.

Hahaha don't feel bad. This guy just randomly finds posts of mine to down vote regardless of what they say. Unless he's a closet tack fan, I'm pretty sure he's 13 years old.

Completely agree with you on colvin, he had to do what was best for his family and to have an opportunity to play outside for a bigger paycheck. I'm not mad at him.

In terms of Richardson, I've got high hopes for him. This draft was ridiculously good.
Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."

I've been watching football since the 80s with the 49ers, and Jaguars football since their Inaugural Season. I've been posting on football boards since the '97 season.

I'm not saying you can't be a G at 6'6", but 6'6" and taller Gs are more the exception than the rule.  Simply put, at that height you need to know they can bend or they won't get the leverage they need against DTs. Fortunately for Richardson, Coughlin was saying he's impressed by his knee bend, and all reports are that he's a dominating run blocker, so he just might work out at G.

Why keep Parnell?? Because we had injuries to the O-Line all year last year... we need at LEAST 7 bodies that can go at all times.
