Why aren’t we handing the ball to Fournette 25 times per game?

The team also needs to play other running backs. Why? Because Fournette is unreliable. Half the time he’s either hurt or suspended so the offense really shouldn’t revolve around him until he proves he can be play.
I’m very lukewarm on Fournette.

We definitely need strong backups for the reasons you cite, but when he's in there, Fournette is a good back. He's just got no blocking right now.
Fournette is not good.
When we had a healthy line he still couldn't get over 4 YPC. Stop pretending that he's anything more than he is... an average NFL running back.

Giving other guys carries had less to do about Fournette and more to do with causing some guessing for the opposing defense. They were absolutely keying hard on that power I line up.

As someone pointed out earlier, a no name practice squad back entered the game and was averaging 4+ yards a carry behind that supposedly garbage line. It is backups and they definitely aren’t anything to write home about, but Fournette is a 4th overall pick. When you draft a running back that high, it’s expected he will be a game changer, not a RB who needs a All Pro line always. There are at least three games this year where the cameras caught the RBs coach chewing him for not hitting the gap. He was also put in at kick return duty after a dude we brought in off the Bronco’s practice squad was out-playing him. It’s the same issues from college. If you can’t drive a truck through the hole, Fournette isn’t running anywhere.(12-16-2018, 08:30 PM)JAGFAN88 Wrote: HE has no vision he missed several holes and cutbacks did you see williams cut back and hit those holes the oline sucks at pass rush but running they are just ok and do make holes 4net just eyes the centers butt and runs into it ever time ![]()
Its clear he wasn't worth the #4 pick. CMac is head and shoulders better than Fournette and more durable.

He lacks the skill set to improvise out of bad blocking and create yardage. Lots of other backs around the league possess that skill. That said - he actually did impress me yesterday by working his way back along the line to an open lane at one point yesterday. So it's possible. He just rarely shows it. But on a subsequent drive he may have left a TD on the field by cutting back inside when the sideline was wide open for a guy with his straight line speed. It's not that he's completely unable to do these things, he's just not nearly as good at it as a pretty large number of backs.

Do I question his passion for the game?? Maybe. I wonder if in the off season he does what OBJ did and takes care of his body and works out, works on his craft, and gets better, or magically sits around and let his natural born abilities continue to carry him out of the NFL after his rookie deal.

We should have taken heed of his failures versus Alabama.
He was destroyed. Seeing the same thing in the NFL.

And yet Dalvin Cook was putting up 100+ yards every game with the terrible FSU OL. He was always having to avoid DL in the backfield and find his own holes to make yards. He saved Jimbo Fisher's job because without him pressure gets put on him a lot sooner. Sent from my SM-T820 using Tapatalk
Hes a power back that excels with gap blocking, with gap blockimg you follow your kead and hit the hole your blocks create. Since our oline has been banged up weve been playing more zone blocking on the run game. With zone you need to press the line and feel the lane for the 1 cut, with gap you get north south and bulldoze.
Ita nit neccessarily a lack of vision bc when the oline is healthy and they call gap/power-o type plays he sees the crease and hits it. I think its a comfort level in the type of play calls in the running game as he didnt do much zone running at LSU

Power with straight line speed. At Pick # 4 he needs to be able to produce something from nothing.
LOL at people acting like playing different running backs changes the way a defense plays. Covering your gaps and sealing the edges are common knowledge for any and all types of running plays. It doesn't matter who's back there. They don't change their scheme. What foolishness this is.
