Kyler Murray

I trust Coughlin when it comes to QBs. I don't think taking Murray is a good idea, but if Coughlin decides it then so be it, I won't complain.
All you're saying is that Coughlin is good at finding average QBs and giving them money....

He's not some QB whisperer and the fact he gave Blake an extension should be the end all be all. He's not good at evaluating QBs.

The way I'd put it is he doesn't waste high picks on mediocre QBs just to have one. And he didn't select Eli, he just understood how to win with a mediocre QB.

But only half an inch shorter then Russell Wilson the QB everyone here wishes we would have taken over a punter.

But you said you trust him to evaluate QBs. I actually think it's quite the opposite. Brunell was average. Garrard was average. Eli is average. Blake is below average.

I think the QB position is by far the hardest position to evaluate in all of sports and there are not many people out there who can say they are good at it. Maybe Andy Reid? Coughlin has never struck me as some QB guy.

He plays tall.

How are you not getting this? What guy has Coughlin ever drafted high that went bust? What guy has he ever paid franchise money to that turned out to be garbage?

Is your whole outlook based on him not canning Bortles last year?

I'd have rather him taken Mahomes in 2016, but maybe he felt it was too risky, but at least we haven't seen him take Gabbert followed by Bortles. I think Coughlin can tell when a guy is "not franchise but we can win with him" level pretty well, so if he decides to take Murray then that's good enough for me. I don't think the Jaguars should take him, just that I think Coughlin can tell if a guy won't be good enough to be worthy of a top ten pick.

I'm not a huge Russell Wilson fan at all. Besides, Wilson is the exception to the rule. The 1 in a 1000 player that can be a decent NFL starter at under 6' tall. Remember, he's the only starting QB in the NFL at that height. There's a reason for that. It's like catching lightning in a bottle. If you try and find a Russell Wilson clone, you're almost assuredly going to fail.

Stop it! K.M. is the next coming of Jesus for some NFL team. It will not be the Jags because they are afraid of succeeding period. Some teams are just losers, get use to it. But I love my Jags.

Bigger than expected, but I still wonder how much of that is just bad bulk + water weight.

Pretty sad that he isn't throwing.. He better run the 40.

The more QBs push up into the top 7 picks, the better for the Jags, because whether or not they want Kyler Murray, it lessens the demand for Dwayne Haskins. What I'm saying is, some team that is in desperate need of a QB might now jump for Murray instead of Haskins.

I like the way Wilson plays. Hes dropped off a bit but a lot of that has to do with his o line.

As for Murry I dont really have a fully fleshed out opinion because I dont know enough about him yet, but I do feel his level of success will have to do with his skills and very little if at all to do with his size.

Well the bolded is also not true. He selected Fournette.....

This whole conversation is taking place because you said you trust Coughlin to evaluate QBs. I'm merely asking for examples of the times where he actually did a good job of evaluating them. It seems like he just likes to nab very average QBs and build teams around them which to me, doesn't strike much confidence.

Fournette isn't a QB.

I didn't buy it a few days ago but I will say the smoke for Cardinals taking Murray at 1 is rising.

I don't totally believe it yet, just some evidence is mounting....

That would be bad for us. Great for the 9ers, but bad for us.

Not bad for us if Rosen is available to us or the giants

Coughlin passed on Mahomes and Watson for Fournette lol.

5'10 is better than expected. I am not sure I am sold on the kid but now I won't have much problem if they select him. I was scared he would be 5'8.

How is it bad for the Jags? All it does is push Haskins closer to the Jags. I always believed the Jags best trade partner would be the Raiders anyway.

If they take Murray at 1, first round looks like:

1. Ari- Murray
2. SF-Bosa
3. NYJ- Allen
4. Oak (poss trade but if not)- Williams
5. TB (another possible trade)- Sweat
6. NYG- Who knows
7. Haskins

Because if the Giants take Haskins, I would like Murray to be available for us to pick. I don't see anyone other than the Giants going QB in Rd 1 besides the Giants if Arizona passes on Murray.

Broncos/Washington/Phins all will be going for a QB depending on who's there. Broncos love Lock
