I like Nick Foles, but seems like Gardner is a franchise qb or can be. And if the team believes he can be. You make him your new QB as Foles was just gonna be a stop gap till we drafted one in a year or two.

Keep him as a backup and mentor. Reguardless if we trade, cut him. Were still on the hook for 22 next year. 15 the year after.

Expensive stopgap but he did his job. So what if the gap was only 11 plays? There will be a market for him- if GM15 continues along this path, deal Foles for OL help and push in the chips on the FU.

I really hope this coaching staff/front office doesn't [BLEEP] this up by forcing Foles back into the starting QB role. He was nothing more than a stop gap QB to begin with and it's looking like we found a real gem in Minshew.

No matter how the rest of this season plays out, you simply can't move on from him. It doesn't matter if Foles is healthy or not. Minshew as a 6th round rookie QB is making plays Foles could never dream of, or a lot QBs for that matter. It's Minshew's team going forward. Be smart about this coaching staff/front office... I don't care how much money you're paying Foles, don't [BLEEP] this up by forcing him back into the line up.

It's a shame we only got a see 11 plays with Foles as the QB, but unless Minshew gets injured, hopefully we don't see Foles take another snap for this team.

Give me the 23 year old rookie with "it", over the 30 year old often injured Vet, who has already hit his peak and that peak being average at best anyways.

This is a no brainer decision going forward. DON'T SCREW THIS UP STAFF/FO!!!!

So while I'm excited about how great Minshew has looked, some part of me is waiting for the inevitable crash back down to Earth. With every passing week that nagging feeling gets less and less but it's still there.

As someone earlier in this thread already stated, it's very possible this will become an easy decision either way. Minshew continues playing great and you obviously make the decision to stay with him. Or NFL defenses figure something out and it's apparent we need to go back to Foles.

His head is on a swivel, he's accurate, has great timing, can read a defense and he LOVES the game.

Not much has changed since I chimed in earlier in this thread.......... except my opinion.

You don't turn back now. If Foles was healthy today you can't go back.
Firstly, the fans would be rabid.
Secondly the team probably would be taken aback.

I hope Foles just retires after this season (as he thought about it before) which clears the cap and makes it easier on the team. I don't think he'll have much trade value with his contract unless a QB needy team has plenty of cap room and we're willing to deal him for a late rounder just to move the contract.

The question becomes, is Foles objectively better than Minshew?

If you can't definitively answer that with a yes, you can't make the switch.

Go with 15 until Foles can play. Even give Foles additional time to recover. If the Jags are 6-4 when NF is ready, I’d wait until 15 falters. Stay with the hot hand. If Foles doesn’t play this year, so be it. It’s certainly a lot of $$$ to pay a backup.

Trade JR, draft a CB and pick-up a TE. Then trade NF for OL/LB help.

He picked up Jay Fiedler too at some point. Coughlin has never been shy churning the wheels at the QB position. Kessler trade the last year or year before last. Dobbs this year. He has to have some level of input in that building with Caldwell. Caldwell didn't even invest another pick at the QB position until Brandon Allen and Tanner Lee and that was after Blake Bortles had been up and down during his first three or four years here. 

Fournette's selection here absolutely had his fingerprints on it though. He probably saw Fred Taylor 2.0 and started salivating like an old fool. In fairness. The jury is still out on Fournette. Has been as versatile as Kamara and McCaffrey? No. But has he had huge games and showcased talent? Absolutely.

Which also makes me doubt he was his pick.. he's always gone for dumb athletic QBs.... Garrard is the big one there.
