I don't think the $ was the issue, based on the rumors we heard.
It was a short term deal he didn't like.
They probably offered a 3-4 year deal with a 2 year out and he didn't like it. (maybe 4 year 80-90 mil but a 2 year out making his real gtd like 40-45---im super guessing)
If they come back with the similar style deal I doubt he likes it. But I don't know why they wouldn't wanna lock him up longer. 5 year 100 mil 50 gtd (with a 3 year out) seems fair to me.

It's the guaranteed money. It doesn't matter how many years it is. He wants more guarantees, but 100 with only 50 doesn't matter, it's still only 50 because they can cut him.

Well based on recent contracts... I'm not sure anything north of 55 mil gtd is fair to the team. 

We never heard the numbers so maybe they lowballed his gtd money. If so, shame on them, but upwards of 60 mil gtd seems a bit much considering what Frank Clark and Lawerence are getting. He might be in the convo with those guys, but he isn't clearly better than them, imo.

Maybe not. But I think what they paid Campbell and Malik Jackson at the time of those signings is commensurate to what I'm calling for here. 

I'm essentially talking about making Yan (briefly) the 6th highest paid 4-3 DE. It's not a huge number by comparison.

So you're saying there's a possibility they offered more?

The fact that they made him an offer at all implies pretty dang concretely that they intended to keep him around. Compare him to Fowler - was there ever any rumor, speculation, hearsay, snippet etc saying we made an offer before he was dealt? Even if the initial offer was low, you're just being a contrarian if you think it wasn't a significant amount of money.
