The London stuff is about to get a whole lot less appealing with Brexit actually happening.

Personally I see it like the next LA. The NFL really wants to be there and keeps deluding themselves into thinking it will work, but it won't. If a team goes there then within a decade they'll regret it in a major way, and so will the rest of the NFL. The only way to make something like that work is to think very long term and create a new couple of conferences that just play in Europe and west Asia then expand the playoffs and have a couple of those new teams participate.

If it's just done piecemeal with a couple of teams in Western Europe it'll be a disaster.

I actually think it will be easier now.

The biggest issue right now is getting rid of the antitrust laws because of the CBA. In order for the NFL to work in London they're going to have to come up with some kind of labor law bypass so that the illegal NFL draft can be allowed. If Brexit doesn't happen they have to come up with antitrust laws that every EU country agrees with. Now it's just the UK if Brexit does happen.

I didn't say it was a good idea, just that it's the only remotely viable idea.

Just moving the Jaguars over there and keeping everything else business as usual would be the worst move the NFL could make.

There are articles out there that talk about the need for a "home base" in US to process the visas and conduct try outs.  You would be processing work visas more than calling agents for the bottom of the roster types.  Most likely they would package up a home and way or 2 home games and an away game for the Jaguars so they could park over there for the month of October.  That would move closer to them being the preferred London team.

Honestly the league wants a lot of things but the structure of football and scheduling is more limiting then the other sports.

If they want to spread the NFL to Europe they need the sport to take foot in high schools, colleges... At some point you need “home’ athletes and not just Americans running around playing football in your city.

Schools don't run athletic programs in Europe.

Maybe flip the script and play all but one game overseas, and have the US game be the outlier?

It's been suggested that the team could try to do that with a facility in the northeast to make travel like a thousand miles closer to London. It would be seen as a pretty blatant attempt to skirt the rules that would be heavily challenged in the courts. But it's possible that's one of the first ways they would try to make it work.

I'm not sure what Shad Khan has in mind as his long term vision for the Jaguars franchise. Yet, there are two reasons why I'm skeptical the NFL will have at least one franchise in London anytime in the next 10 years:

1. The logistics of having an NFL team in London, including families of players being over 3000 miles away from the rest of their family and friends. The NFLPA has plenty of leverage.
2. The current system of having games outside the USA is working in terms of growing the NFL internationally. If a 17 game schedule becomes a reality, many more games per season can be played in London and parts of Europe.

Ain’t no way the Players Union is going to allow that jet lag situation to occur. I agree with the multibillionaire’s assessment that a total rebuild is not the best course of action. Players that threw a Marrone under the bus yesterday are clearly not going to sleep well tonight.
