I simply don’t understand why people allow their children to disrupt an entire restaurant. The table next to ours have about a one and a half year old who is cranky and restless. Like one of those old hand cranked sirens I hear the kid winding up louder and louder in a screaming cry. I look over and the mother is simply staring at him with a disapproving look, as if he understands and is capable of responding. Good gawd…

If a kid is unable/unwilling to behave according to their age then maybe find a babysitter. I realize there are kids who have true emotional disorders, but many who don't are lacking in discipline and structure. The other 1% of why we don't each out being the loud music and televisions. When did it become a thing where every single place you go has to have loud music and/or television. Even the dentist office is loud. We show less advertisements to registered users. Quiet, not too crowded, good food, slow service (in a good way). I hardly ever eat out, mainly because my wife's cooking is better than 99% of the restaurants out there, but this place was pretty nice. Sorry, I guess the foregoing is not a trivial annoyance.

That's what you do with hungry and restless children that age. The mother was lazy so she just stared as he stood on the seat of the booth next to her screaming at the top of his lungs with tears running down his face. What's even sadder is her belly was already swelling with the next child to fall victim to her sad lack of parenting skills.

Besides never wanting them, I would have been a bad parent. Not a maternal bone in my body. At all. That being said, it grinds my gears to see parents like the one you described. Or those that shove a cellphone or tablet in their hands and basically ignore them. And if I see you mistreat a child.....fuggedaboutit. I'm dialing 911 while getting between you and that kid. I suffered enough abuse to just stand by and let it happen to a kid.

What bothers me is when they’re unwilling to handle just one child but then get pregnant again. Birth control is readily available. Use it. We show less advertisements to registered users. My girls never...I mean never...acted like that in restaurants, or public in general. What irks me is how the end-all for 'child care' is to slap a smart phone or a tablet in front of them to keep them entertained. It's probably the exact same way at home thus eliminating any sort of parenting skills. ![]()
Yeah, and how they let their brats play on my lawn too! No discipline in these muppets I say.

Lymphoma is a terrible way to go. Fortunately the cure rate is >92% now, but still...getting there is hard. “An empty vessel makes the loudest sound, so they that have the least wit are the greatest babblers.”. - Plato

It bugs the ever living snot out of me to see kids acting like that, and I want to smack the totally oblivious parents that allow it!

It’s not hard to be a good parent. Too many people are just lazy. We raised 5 and all of them were well-behaved in public. When they were very young like this one was, then one of us took him/her outside until we could calm them down. You just have to engage them. Speaking of electronic parenting, I once saw a responsible looking couple with two well-behaved children (around 4-6) that were each supplied with huge tablets with adapters that mounted to a table edge and placed the screen directly in front of them. It was scary. As soon as they sat down the children sat silently until each tablet was mounted for them and then they began poking and swiping. They were absolutely brain washed. Then, of course, each parent pulled out their cell phone. An entire family sitting down to eat and no one was speaking.

It's incredibly sad. What's worse is the parents have no clue what long term dysfunction they're instilling in their kids. Traveling a lot allows me to people watch. Like the time while sitting in a cafe below Neuschwanstein Castle I watched a woman trade bites of food with her little purse dog using the same spoon.
