Yannick Ngakoue traded to Vikings

Money was never my drive coming into this business," Ngakoue said Friday. "It has never been my drive. I've always wanted to be a great-caliber guy, great-quality guy, on and off the field. I just needed a fresh start, and Minnesota was [the team] that gave me the opportunity to continue to live out my dream. I'm appreciative and excited."

Glad they sent him to freezing [BLEEP] minnesota.

It was about the money until he realized that he wasn't worth what he thought he was. Then suddenly it was about principle. Sure it was Yan.

Wasnt the rumor also that our offer was short in years?  And that he was holding out for a longer contract with more guarantee?  Even if our offer was 4-5 years, he is young enough that he would have been one of those rare players that would have set themselves up for a second big contract.  Now since he wont get that first big contract until two seasons later, he needs to make sure he scores real big because he may not get a second.  He'll be 26 in the spring of next year.  If he signs a 5+ year deal after next season, that is probably it.  Unless he is one of those rare guys that keeps up his productivity and speed, I cant imagine anyone paying him big money once he is 31.  But had he signed our initial offer and would have been eligible for his second big deal at the age of 28 or so, that would have been a different story.

As has been said many times on here, this whole thing really was unfortunate for all parties involved.  Everyone now appears worse off.

Don't look for Ngakoue to accomplish much in Minnesota. Now, he's gonna face constant double teams since the Vikings announced today that Danielle Hunter is going on I.R. That is a huge punch in the gut for the Vikings defense, not to mention that had this injury happened before the trade, I can almost guarantee, they would've offered us a 1st rounder for Ngakoue. They would be desperate.

You know Hunter will only be out 3 games right? The IR isn’t like it used to be.

Did not know that. Thanks. I assumed it was all season.

Constantly getting double teamed is accomplishing much, to be fair. When someone made the same argument that trading Yannick means Allen will be double teamed now everyone jumped to Allen's defense and said that would be okay because forcing double teams means other people are freed to make plays now. Don't do that double standard.

The guy Yawn went up against lol. What an impact. You would think the guy that wanted top 5 DE money could atleast get ine pressure let alone a sack.

To be fair, when healthy, David Bakhtiari is one of the top 3 LT's in the NFL. He just doesn't get much press. Ngakoue is gonna struggle greatly until Hunter is back from injury though.

Shouldn't this be moved to the League forum?

I know exactly how good he is.  But Yawn wants to be paid like one of the best so he should produce against one of the best and he was none existence

Yeah, Wiley even admitted to as much on 'Speak for Yourself'...and almost sounded proud of it. However, the biggest 'Jaguar Vacation' in history has to be Hugh Douglas. Didnt he register only 1 sack the whole time he was here? Yuck
