Pull that tag now! I'd love Schwartz at RT. I have no idea what the Chiefs are thinking. Just look how Mahomes was running for his life after Fisher got hurt. Yeah Fisher's torn achilles likely means he's never the same and his recovery probably lasts into the season. Schwartz has been dealing with a back injury for awhile and just had surgery... but if he clears medical checks, I'd be okay with bringing in Schwartz. I'm no doctor, but I don't think he would be ready to start the season. Still, Schwartz could upgrade the pass blocking at RTif he's healthy. I know he was hurt at some point last year and missed the playoffs. Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!

It's interesting how in today's medical world that an ACL is 'not that bad'. ![]() (03-11-2021, 11:03 AM)TheO-LineMatters Wrote:(03-11-2021, 10:52 AM)Cleatwood Wrote: Chiefs just released Eric Fisher. Wow. I'm sure a huge part of these releases have to do with injury and salary. But it begs the question. Andy Reid knows offensive linemen. If he's confident enough in this off season's class of Ts (either in free agency or the draft) to employ this strategy, I'm wondering why Meyer and Baalke don't have the same confidence. I understand reasonable people can reasonably disagree, though Meyer and Baalke are on my team, I would defer to Reid's take on the OT class. It's funny how that's changed over the years. Good but funny. People have seen so many players come back successfully from ACL surgery, the fear the average fan has about the ACL has diminished quite a bit-no matter how naive that diminished fear might be. He could just be blowing smoke about the OLine group. Maybe he moves Robinson to RT and they sign Trent? Maybe they draft two tackles this year. Who knows? This tackle group is really deep and having Robinson won’t deter them from drafting one if they’re available. Vera-Tucker can play tackle and guard. Maybe the draft him. Of course, these moves could be the result of an unexpectedly low salary cap due to an unforeseen pandemic and severe injury to their two starting tackles, instead of being pre planned due to innate confidence in the T class. Mitchell Schwartz had back surgery. Backs can be problematic (see Charles Haley and Michael Cheever), but he expected to be healthy in 2021. Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!

So tell me about all 32 NFL offensive line coaches since you purport him to be 'the worst in the NFL'. Your beloved PFF has the Jaguars offensive line ranked at 22. Then you rant on and on about Taylor and Robinson being awful. So if they are that bad, and the line is ranked at 22, that would seem to lend even less support to your 'worst offensive line coach in the NFL' claim if he has them at 22 with these awful tackles. ![]() We show less advertisements to registered users. It started out bad when Meyer retained George Warhop and now he is basically saying he is deferring to Warhop's "expertise" when dealing with the matter, so can you blame me for being skeptical? As I have said on many occasions, our interior O-Line is fine as is. Warhop is saved by the fact that we have Norwell and Linder. Cann is serviceable as well. Norwell and Linder were established before he arrived. That is why we are at 22 instead of 32. He's had a chance to develop both young OT's and he's failed, just like he failed to develop players in Cleveland and Tampa Bay. Just look at his track record.
