1.  It seems lots of people will have input as to which players are brought in.  Assistant/position coaches will have influence.  So I would think if they have coached a player in the past and they liked what the player offers, they may push for that player.  Baalke and his staff will also make recommendations.  Ryan Stamper, a Jacksonville native who was recently brought aboard, will ascertain whether players are "culture fits."

2.  Baalke said he had permission from Shad Khan to "spend to the cap," and they have plans to do so on a "three year rolling basis."  Lageman said it doesn't necessarily mean they WILL spend to the cap.  They are still looking for value where they can get it.  This is seemingly a departure from the years where we were coming out of cap hell, and the team was obsessed with having room to maneuver.

3.  Lageman had good things to say about Cam RObinson, but identified footwork as his primary issue.  My thing is Warhop has been his position coach for two seasons.  Why haven't those footwork issues been fixed.  Lageman also said the thinking was that the team struggled to protect in obvious passing situations, and that if the team were more competitive, there would be fewer obvious passing situations, that would result in ;ess pressure on the QB.  As for the rest of the OL, Lageman indicated he was surprised like we were about the Norwell news, but he was saying Norwell has performed very well the last two years.  He also said backup C would need to be addressed because Shatley is a free agent, and that Linder can't be relied upon to stay healthy for 16 games.

4.  Lageman thinks Baalke is right about the RB room, and that James Robinson was good last year, but they need to add some explosiveness to the depth, and that adding explosiveness was not limited to the WR position.  As for WR, Lageman emphasized Chark has to improve.  Collin Johnson does a good job of getting separation.

Thanks for sharing this, Bullseye.

1) This is so vague, I don't think we'll ever know what a culture fit is, or why a Jax native was picked for the position. Not my money, but I don't see how or why an FO can't ascertain whether prospects will bring issues to a locker room, have trouble with nightlife, etc. I like that we are listening to multiples of voices when it comes to roster decisions, but the GM has to establish his authority and direction for the team or it will become a disjointed collection of guys that don't quite fit any particular system.

2) This must be going back some years, because since Shad bought the team I can't remember any season that we didn't push up against the cap. Sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't. Let's hope that we bring more guys in that are worth spending to the cap on. Win through the darft, FA is too often spending frivolously.

3) "Why doesn't my Buick LeSabre drive like a Corvette?" You can hire the best mechanics in the world, and that Buick is still going to have its limitations. Cam was never a technician. I doubt you're going to be able to coach his feet to be quicker, no matter who we have coaching the line. The good coach is the one who recognizes the issue and finds a way to account for it in another manner.

4) I think a big part of improving Chark is getting someone on the other side of the field that can draw the D's attention.

This is a good move since he played well in reserve and can play guard or center. I really would like to see them do the same with Sidney Jones. If he plays well and stays healthy they can then give him a longer term deal. I'd also expect Meyer to make an offer to William Jackson. He's a solid cornerback and still in the prime of his career. By adding Jones and Jackson, they wouldn't have to reach for a corner in the draft.

I've only said 1000x you can't fix heavy feet. The only real way to improve Cam from what he is is to hope Tlaw forgives a multitude of sins. Which probably will happen to an extent, but would also happen with any LT we plug in and not cost 14M.

This is a good signing.  He's quality backup at a place where we need it.

Solid experienced reliable versatile backup on the interior OL.  Good signing.

Chill.

What is this then?

I’d take Golladay all day. I think he’s on par with Chark and even better at the moment. Dude is a gamer and has long arms.

Now that is what an insurance move is supposed to look like. Good signing.

Or maybe get a QB who has a good enough arm to get him the ball on deep plays.

It's a good signing, but it might be indicative of what we're about to see a lot of in free agency, with guys signing one year deals and hoping to get the bigger deal next year when the cap goes back up.

Maybe so, but I wouldn't read too much into this one signing.  Shatley was on a one year deal last year as well.

I'd take a look at Kenyon Drake, he's not a change of pace guy though, more of a JRob2.

Glad to have Shatley and Herndon back as they are both strong minded individuals who always give maximum effort.
Kind of surprised about giving Cam Robinson the franchise tag as he seems to be good for 1-2 mental lapses per game.
Respect the game.  Play with a sense of urgency.

1.)  Take care of the ball.  Win the turnover battle.

2.)  It's all about 3rd down.  Win on 3rd down to win the game.

3.) Playmakers make plays.  The only reason that you put your uniform on is to make plays. In order to EARN your paycheck, you must make plays.

Learn from the great collapse of 2023.

Agree to disagree. He was burnt like toast last season, giving up a ton of long passes. This move surprised me. Hopefully we bring in enough talent at the position that he doesn't make it through final cuts.

He wasn’t that bad playing in the nickle.  He has proved he can be a decent backup just not a guy you want starting

Definitely not starting. He has good athleticism, he just lacks instincts.

Herndon was a step up from Hayden at least. I see him as a depth signing.

Henry had 264 more yards receiving than Eifert last year. If we sign Henry then who cares. If we don’t then who cares.

An elite QB will make any pro football TE look great. Like Manning and Julius Thomas.

Henry ain’t no heck raiser. If Oliver can’t stay on the field this season then I give up on him. But if he can, there’s your TE right there.
