Without knowing how the draft is going to go, need is all we can go on. We don't know what player will unexpectedly fall that represents a clear cut best available player. In addition, with picks 25, 33, 45, and 65, it's hard to believe there's no offensive lineman that would be there that would be as good as any other available player. There may not be a lineman BETTER than Collins, but there will be several that are on the same tier and due to need and positional value they would be better picks than Collins. I can tell you confidently that Collins won't be my pick for the Jags at 25.

Does that mean the Jags should take Pitts instead of Lawrence? Or does positional value play a role in selecting players.....

We are moving to a 3-4 base and the only real OLB prospects that we currently have are Chaisson who pretty much looked like a bust last year and Allen who was injured much of 2020. There is absolutely no depth behind them. We're an injury away from complete disaster at the OLB position. We have tons of depth on the D-Line with Robertson-Harris, Malcolm Brown, Adam Gotsis, Dawuane Smoot, Jihad Ward, Doug Costin and DaVon Hamilton. I don't see anyone on the roster who could step into the OLB position and consistently get to the QB. A rotation of 2 OLB's is not gonna work. If even one injury occurs, we are sunk. We need more depth. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

I'd prefer an offensive lineman somewhere, especially with so many of our starting offensive line being on short term contracts. Zaven Collins would be very hard to pass on at 25 for the reasons you just indicated. His versatility is what makes him so appealing for the Jaguars. He can play inside or outside in a 3-4 defense. The only player I'd feel confident about at OLB in case of injury to Chaisson or Allen would be Myles Jack. They'd then have to replace him on the inside with Quarterman or Giles-Harris. An offensive tackle definitely needs to be taken no later than pick 45. Not that I have great faith in Robinson or Taylor, but what happens if one of those two tackles gets hurt. Does anyone trust Will Richardson or Bartch to take over? Ideally, Liam Eichenberg would be on the board at 45. He shows up somewhere in Round 2 in most mocks. I like him because he seems the most NFL ready of all the tackles, except Sewell, despite not having the highest ceiling. I also wouldn't hesitate to add another offensive lineman on day 3 of the draft. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

Lol. I'm still waiting on the link of the bigboard that has him at the top (04-15-2021, 07:02 PM)flgatorsandjags Wrote:You asked for one. I provided one. I've seen respected drafniks say Pitts is the best player in the draft probably more than a dozen times.

If Chaisson or Allen goes down, I don't think we'll find much production from anyone on the current roster. I totally agree about OT. That has to be addressed. Robinson is a 1 year rental. Taylor is entering his final 2 years and has actually gotten worse, the longer he is in the league and Richardson is in the final year of his deal and has been a disaster as a swing OT. Bartch is a complete unknown to this point. Somewhere in the early part of the draft OT has to be addressed. I'd love to get Eichenberg in the 2nd, but I doubt he makes it that far. If it were me, I'd take one early and another in the final 2 rounds to compete for the swing Tackle position. There are a couple guys I really like in those late rounds. 1. TLaw
2. Barmore 3. Moehrig 4. Elijah Moore 5. Trade up for Friermuth If Elijah Moore is gone I'd be happy with Rondale Moore or Toney at 45, if we draft Jenkins instead of Moehrig I'd be happy with Holland at 45 (04-21-2021, 08:16 PM)flgatorsandjags Wrote: 1. TLaw You have drafted 5 excellent players who can eventually be excellent starters or even pro-bowlers. Lawrence, Barmore and Moehrig are consensus best players at their positions in the entire draft and all fill a need. Freirmuth is clearly the 2nd best tight end (overall consensus) as well as most NFL ready from day 1. I'd be ecstatic if this happened, especially since I don't believe Barmore, Moehrig or Freirmuth will be on the board where you have them. The 2 positions of need not addressed are offensive tackle and edge rusher. While they can go a season without adding a high pick at edge (hoping Allen and Chaisson excel in the 3-4), the same can't be said for tackle. This would necessitate signing the best available free agent (Fisher or Okung) to a short deal or hoping another veteran tackle gets cut during or after the pre-season. It's scary enough to have Cam Robinson protecting the Franchise, but the thought of relying on an inexperienced Bartch or even Richardson would be terrifying.

If they could get a reasonable deal with Okung prior to the draft, it would also keep them from the possibility of reaching for an offensive tackle early in the draft. On the other hand, if Darrisaw somehow dropped to 25 they couldn't pass on him there- even with Okung.

Do you think he will magically get faster out of his stance and develop quicker feet? As for Okung, he only has 13 starts in the last 2 years due to injuries. I have no faith in him to be healthy.
