Saw an interview on Newsmax with Dominique Dawes..

She turned into a real hottie too..

When I was a teen, I had a huge crush on Dominique Moceano. I was roughly the same age as her.   It’s been a minute.  I thought that was who you were talking about.  Maybe not quite as hot as Dawes these days.  But she still alright.

Gymnastics are a sport where a single missed jump or flip can result in serious debilitating injury that can easily last a lifetime. The twisties are apparently a condition were a gymnast does not compute their relative position during their routine. If Biles competed like that she could have seriously injured herself. She was right to withdraw from her events, and the reaction in this thread to her withdrawal is clear proof that most of you couldn't give a [BLEEP] about the people involved in these sports. All you care about is if they add to the medal table.

I am not trying to be an [BLEEP]. (I guess it’s natural)

If you forget to “jump” then I suppose that would leave one firmly planted on the ground.  I won’t argue at all that these athletes can’t get hurt bad.  I think we’ve all watched it live while watching the Olympics.  Twistys.  Pretty sure that’s just a porn company.  If biles is the best of the best, she should be elite enough to overcome the stress and presure plus be so skilled in her events to compete at such level.  I don’t give a rats [BLEEP] if she gets gold, silver or bronze.  But if you train and go through all you did and decide to rep your country and yourself, then do it and the best you can.  Even if you screw up and finish last.  That’s more admirable than quitting.

So did she withdraw because she couldn’t twist, or because of her mental health?

She claimed mental health.  It’s the easy way out.  It’s the out where people are supposed to feel sorry for her.  And she’s a hero or something.

She cracked. It's not heroic, it's a failure. This nonsense idea that quitting is heroic is the issue; it's not, she was prudent to quit but not heroic.

I agree.   It's not heroic.   It's more like an injury.   She has a genuine mental injury.  And she was wise to withdraw.  Because she could have been severely physically injured if she couldn't figure out where she was in the air when she's doing those twisting somersaults.

Saw Ben Shapiro say this on Twitter and I think it accurately sums up my opinions: "Simone Biles isn't a cowardly villain for pulling out of the Olympics. She isn't a brave heroine for pulling out of the Olympics. We live in such an insanely polarized society that we can't just let people be people."

I don't have a big problem with players kneeling on American soil to lodge their protests, but when they do it on foreign soil it bothers me. If they see nothing in our country as redeemable enough to stand tall for it on the international stage, then perhaps they shouldn't have sought to represent it.

Good for the girl who stood. The rest can go to hell.

USA mens basket ball are going for the gold tonight. There are only 2 days left of the Olympics, so you better enjoy it while it lasts

I have to care to enjoy, which I don’t. I kind of hope the US loses. Not a huge fan of pop on any level and think we would be better off with a different coach. That said I expect us to win.

Also on Biles, wish she had decided to retire before the olympics but she did what she need to for the sponsorship. I don’t think there was anything physically wrong with her other than she was losing and would rather dip than take the L. It’s not exactly walking away on top, but it’s something.

Yes, it's improvement, but it's Blaine Gabbert 2012 level improvement. - Pirkster

I don't think so, her early scores showed that she was pretty easily going to take home three golds. I don't think she wanted to quit, I think she just couldn't go on.
