I thought Jack had an injury that might show up later in his career. If I could pick up a nice pick for him, I'd take it, just on the off-chance that injury shows back up.

He has a degenerative knee, but it hasn't been a problem so far. I would move him just to get a guy who can play the position.

When is he going to start playing weakside linebacker in a 43 scheme?

He would be back to playing lights out with the Rams. Playing with Darnold up front and Ramsey again and we think he wouldn't play well or make plays?

maybe we should trade Jack for Donald (sic) and see if we can get Quarterman to look like the next playmaker at LB.

To be fair to Jack, he's a stud 43 WLB.
We changed schemes just as we started using him correctly.

He was also supposed to be a transcendent athlete that could thrive in any LB position.  At the very least, he's clearly a much better player when he isn't being relied on to be one of the best players on D.

I'm pretty sure he had microfracture surgery the off-season after he got his big payday.  He at least had some kind of issue in his knee worked on that he was playing through much of the season.  The team seemed very interested in keeping it as quiet as possible, so trying to verify that one might be difficult.

Shipley and Dilla have both dropped little hints that the Jags may be in the market for a WR. Maybe Cooks or Michael Thomas.

I hope we don't give up much for either.

Maybe look for a good cover LB if the team is going to make a move before the trade deadline.

Not a trade, but the Broncos just agreed to release John Brown. He's a bit older (31), but still has deep speed. Has 2 thousand yard receiving seasons (most recent in 2019).

I don't remember "transcendent talent"
But he WAS supposed to be able to man up the MIKE, and that certainly didn't work out great.

For a 4th or 5th maybe.
Coming off injury. It'll take time to get acclimated. He's got a monster contract (or wants one) iirc.

I'd pass on Michael Thomas. He's kind of a headcase and he's still sparring with the Saints over his injury. Brees made him look much better than he actually is. He also wouldn't add any speed to this team either. He's never been known as a fast receiver. He only ran 4.57/40 coming out of college. We don't need another possession receiver. Cooks is past his prime. I wouldn't give up anything more than a 7th rounder for him.

Brandon Cooks is 28 and 3 years younger than Marvin Jones. He's had 5 1000 yard seasons, on 3 different teams, including a 1K/80 catch/6TD season last season. He's currently at 45/502 this season....with Davis Mills throwing the ball.

I'd give up a 5th for him easy. Plus, get him off the Texans and keep him from abusing us.

Yeah, people think cooks is older than he is because of how many teams he's been on. He's younger than both Thomas and O'Dell.

I honestly thought he was in his 30's. It seems like he's been in the league forever. I still think he isn't the receiver he used to be though. Personally, I really like several receivers coming out in the 2022 draft. I think that is where we should look for a #1 receiver. This year is pretty much a wash, which we all knew it would be. I have no problem sitting back and letting Trevor Lawrence grow as a QB this year and then we get him a #1 receiver for next year via the draft.

I’d like the Cooks trade and try to give him an extension. Proven deep speed for Trevor.

I like John Shipleys point of the receiver itself may not be worth the trade, but the help he would be to Trevors development would be.

Young guy with skills who's been on 5 teams. Yeah, sounds like someone we want around here!

Well….when you go from Brees, Brady, Goff, and Watson throwing the ball to you to DAVIS MILLS….the numbers are going to drop off. He’s still in line tracking with his career averages right now.
