There are other ex-players that fall into that general category. Would you consider McCardell or Brunell for the HC spot in Jacksonville? I would not at this point. People seem to be thinking that previous experience as a HC is a negative thing.

Of course there are.  But neither Brunell nor McCardell have been as high as an OC on s coaching staff.  Neither of them have been gushed about by a damn good head coach and HOF QB.  None of them have players like Shady McCoy giving interviews about the kind of coach they are and how much they appreciate them.

Yea same for me. My man even wore a teal suit to the interview.

Something to watch for in the coming week/s, is if we bring him in for a 2nd interview and/or how many other interviews he takes. If he doesn't take many more interviews it maybe a little hint that he may have made a decision with a team but are waiting until after the playoffs to make it official.

May not mean anything either, but just a little something to keep an eye on.

It was obvious at the time when UM was hired that when Kahn said the coach would report directly to him and that Kahn would be involved in player hires that UM wanted to be free of Balke's control.  But UM's coaching effectiveness aside, any incoming coach will be able to see how well that arrangement worked (or not).  I think that when they hired UM the plan was for him to organise both on and off the field.  I sure hope that when they the new coach it's not limited simply to what's happening on the field.  There's so much need for improvement in the organisation I think they need to attract that unicorn coach who can win both the gameday challenge as well as transform the whole organisation's effectiveness.  If they decide that everything was great but for UM then I think they'll hire the wrong coach.

I'm just going to assume based on your flailing that it was 2019 or sooner. 

I'm not sure how else to explain how you'd be so utterly confused about how NFL franchises operate. 

I'm going to throw you a bone real quick and just make clear some of the confusion you expressed in your post quoted above:

• New HC hires hire their own coaching staff in its entirety 99.99999% of the time
  
• If they retain prior assistant or position coaches - it was agreed to early on in the process and it means the new HC likely has a genuine interest in the retained coached - they are not forced upon the new coach
  
• If a GM/Owner has to force a staff hire on a new HC - it's considered a bad fit for that HC and they probably just hire a HC that is aligned philosophically
  
• That thing you said was "obvious" is actually a rather convoluted version of the reality that Khan merely inferred he wouldn't let the new regime do what he allowed Coughlin to do - in other words - he'd need to sign off on personnel decisions to try to prevent another debacle (hint: it didn't work because he trusted Meyer and Baalke and they made bad decisions) 
  
• Regarding the new guy coming with his own ppl or having to ride with Baalke - that confusion is understandable since Khan hasn't shown his cards regarding his intentions at GM. I'd expect that to become more clear after the postseason.
  
• Lastly - all that stuff you said that I've highlighted in red -- well -- that's a bunch of horse [BLEEP] sunshine and rainbows that doesn't really exist in the national football league except in documentaries when ppl blow smoke up each other's butts. The coach is the coach and he may have SOME degree of influence on culture and over-arching philosophy, but none of that [BLEEP] matters if he can't actually take a rebuilding roster and go win some meaningful games with it . Jaguars players comments post season on Meyer and what they want in their next coach supports those statements 100%.
