I'm not here for giving Bevell a break. Even after Meyer was ousted he was given a chance to run the ship, the offense finally looked better when he gave up calling the plays and let Schottenheimer run the offense. He did it with the exact same personnel (and no James Robinson!!!) that Bevell had and we actually looked like a competent offense to close the season. He ran the offense all year and it couldn't function, I can't not give him accountability for that. I don't want him around Trevor going forward to stunt his growth.

I'll help ya:
During the week, after scouting the opposing defense, an offensive gameplan is put together. It's a collaborative effort. Bev, Schotty and the position coaches come up with a scheme and fine-tune it in practice. On gameday, the first 15 or so plays are scripted. Aside from that, Bev and Schotty and Trevor are in direct communication. They talk things over in big moments.
Bev handed Schotty playcalling duties so he could be unencumbered and pay adequate attention to the rest if the team. It happens all the time.
But don't think for a minute that Schotty went rogue and just did his own thing. I know the sensationalism is thick around here, but I can assure you that didn't happen.
And Trevor said himself that he worked well with Bev, so I'll take his word over yours.

Are you out of touch with how playcalling in the NFL works? Methinks so. Let me break it down for you.

Every coach has input on the gameplan and initial script. After the first 10 or so plays the game gets handed over to the coordinator/play caller and they adapt and pick the play that works for each situation. Bevell did a poor job of that, Schotty did a better job although not completely satisfactory.

Offense under Bevell looks anemic, and can't stay on the field. Offense under Schotty ACTUALLY MOVED THE BALL AND LOOKED BALANCED, CREATIVE, AND COMPETENT!!!! This happened with Schotty calling the plays, obviously all coaches have an input on the game plan. But when Bevell removed himself from the equation we improved. The common denominator was Bevells involvement and a direct correlation between how involved he was and the success of the offense. So we just suddenly started calling more misdirection plays and got creative magically? NO that happened after Bev gave up playcalling, use the eyetest!!!

"And Trevor said himself that he worked well with Bev, so I'll take his word over yours." .... Until he's not he's his coach, why would Trevor defame him or speak honestly if they may have to still work together? It's like when Shad asks a candidate if they'll work with Baalke as Baalke is sitting in the room. Also the results speak for themselves, nothing about our offense (sans the close of the season) "worked well" so i'll trust my eyes over Trevor's quote or your condescending opinion.

I was wrong about Trent Baalke. 

What's the worry?  We have a great opportunity to select from a wide range of experienced HC candidates who would probably jump at the opportunity.  Here are four who would be realistic:

1.  Brian Flores (Just be careful what you say or do - might get sued)
2.  Jack Del Rio (Just hide all the axes)
3.  Jon Gruden (Keep him off the internet and away from Chuckie dolls)
4.  Doug Marrone (Apparently Saban no longer needs him and he knows the area)

Permanent vacation. I am fed up as well. Took me all year to convince my wife that Trevor Lawrence has potential. She ejected becauae of the way Minshew was treated.

She is on me constantly to change teams. It is very difficult to convince her that a future is possible supporting this ownership.

I can't change teams. The Jaguars are embedded in my DNA. I can step away and take a break from the mental abuse this team has inflicted on me though. I will always love them, but I just don't like the way they treat me and the rest of the fans. I feel like a someone trapped in an abusive relationship. This team is my woman and she's very, very mean and violent. LOL.

You threaten to quit watching all the time....just quit and go enjoy your life. There's no need to be tortured by something you have zero control over other than your fandom.

In the post before this, you said the offense, with Schotty calling plays, broke down in the Pats game because Trevor had some rookie moments. What do you think Bev encountered all season? Rookie moments, along with dropped balls, illtimed drive-killing penalties and the Urban factor.

And the misdirection plays were part of Bev's offense. He designed it, with imput from Schotty.

I know blaming the OC is the knee-jerk thing to do. Every fanbase does it. But you have to remember that this year was about taking the training wheels off of Trevor. And keeping jim upright. You might disagree, but I think this was an eye-opening year of learning for Trevor. He started a whopping 17 games and finished them all. You might opine differently, but I think Trevor is sincere when bringing up his admiration for Bev -- and Schotty. I'd speculate that there was some bad cop/good cop going in behind closed doors ... who do you think his safe harbor was, telling him to keep his chin up?

I just find this whole HC search nuts. If its this hard to find a HC who wants to work with Baalke, that should tell you something.

I just dont get Shad's insistence on having Baalke here, throwing everything else under the bus for the man and that includes Lawrence. 

Getting a HC that will develop him and a system that suits him should be the main priority.

Pederson is a good coach that had an extraordinarily bad year in one of the toughest environments to play and coach in. I have no problem with his qualifications. I was excited about the Leftwich/Wilson tandem, but I get it. Bradley - First time NFL HC. Caldwell - First time NFL GM. Marone - coached less than two seasons in Buffalo before a very awkward departed. Meyer - First time HC.

My disappointment in Pederson/Spielman is that they’re already compromising on the way in. That’s just no way to start a new job…any job. I know I shouldn’t fault them for that, but I’d just like to see every candidate tell Khan where he can stick his Baalke until he gets it through his thick head. Not just with Baalke, but with the past 10 years in general.
