Foles' deal was like $104m if he hit every incentive. $45m guaranteed.

It's still just funny. I know cap inflation yada yada just looks weird.

If you, or anybody is upset with the Kirk and Jones deals, just remember this was our WR play this past season...

"It was certainly a wild first day, so let's take a look at some winners and losers.

"Winner: Jacksonville Jaguars

"The Jaguars shelled out a ton of money on the first day of legal tampering, but also landed legitimate starters. All six players are immediate-impact guys who will help Doug Pederson in turning this franchise around."

This is what you're supposed to do with cap space. Secure and solidify your starting line-up with upgrades at positions of glaring need. Enable flexibility and breathing room in the draft to secure the best players possible to potentially start, fit a need and shore up the bottom half of your roster to eventually replace the guys you just signed yesterday and throughout this week.

It's a good approach. Now all they have to do is win and everybody will shut the hell up!

"The Jaguars were that team this year -- the team that snaps up high-risk propositions in the first few hours of the negotiating period and hopes for the best. I don't hate it. Whether guard Brandon Scherff, wide receivers Christian Kirk and Zay Jones, tight end Evan Engram, defensive tackle Foley Fatukasi and linebacker Foye Oluokun are all worth the money they're receiving is almost beside the point. The Jaguars badly needed starter-quality players on their talent-poor roster, and all their unused cap space wasn't helping anyone otherwise."

"Which team improved the most in free agency?" They say it's the Jaguars, of course.

Four wins in two years. That's all that really needs to be said. All the fans that get upset over money that doesn't belong to them on a salary cap that's consistently increasing is beyond hilarious for me. Today's $18M is tomorrow's $22M. It is what it is.

The main goal is to win now while you can on Lawrence's rookie contract. Because, if he's as good as advertised? And, we finally start to see what he's supposed to be this year? He's going to cost you probably close to 20% of your annual cap hit wise after it's all said and done.

This is why you start shelling out the money now while you have it on tap for adequate enough talent to get the job done. It's not like our division is a juggernaut or something. Tinhorns, Clots and Tacks are all in a potential downward trend. It's very easy, very plausible and possible that this team gets good and gets good relatively fast in 2022.

The expectations and standards are high now after last year's embarrassing efforts. I hope they keep swinging aggressively into next month's draft as well.

Anyone know how much cap space we have left after these signings? Could we still add a nickel corner?

I think we need to pursue Collins from Dallas. We could rescind the tag and save 6 million and actually upgrade our line in two spots.

3 new players for t-law to throw to. Very nice and then along with #1 who didnt play last year mixed in with possible rookie or rookies. It's getting very exciting around here

I would agree with this. My guess is that he will get released if nobody trades for him. The Jaguars can get him for a 6th round pick. The move would have some risks since we're not sure Walker Little is ready to be a full-time starter at left tackle. The reward, however, is that Collins at this best is a very good right tackle. Saving $6 million is an added bonus since they have already spent so much in free agency.

Trade DropShenault for a draft pick and get back something before he's in free agency like Taven Bryan going for 5 mill a season.

Shenault is on a rookie contract, which makes him very cheap.  With our new WRs, and maybe more to come, we will not be forced to play him if he can't catch the ball better.  The guy has potential.  I would keep him and see what happens.

People are crazy lol. You don't get rid of a 2nd round pick after 1 good year and 1 bad year. That's how you field a team with no depth.

We should have resigned DJ instead of Zay.

They absolutely should have done that but it looks like he didn't want to play here. The problem was not locking him up before he hit FA and then giving Cam the tag instead of Chark.

Tag Chark. Still sign Kirk. Trade for Collins. Start Walker Little at LT.

This.

Now I wish they at least fix the Cam situation by rescinding the tag, trading for Collins and using the additional money somewhere else.

That's not a problem,  I don't want to tag Chark when he don't want to be here.

It's not huge but you get rid of Cam 16.6 cap hit for one year while Collins has 10M per year cap hit left on his deal and you have him under contract until 2024 whereas with Cam you are on the same boat next year.
it's a 6-7M in savings and that's not too bad at all, it's basically a cap hit for another good player signing.
I'll take it Smile
