This is going to be a weird pre-season (for us). No big wave of new players, no new system for them all to learn. It's going to be a continuation of last season. Just pick up where we left off.

Ugh

They probably paid him like he’s still a beast rather than a complementary piece.

Campbell would have been cool but it’s whatever.

Not resigning Key I think stings the most. Pass rush and IOL are the top 2 priorities.

Cap room probably helps making that choice.

Once you have "the man", a lot of FA spending is not necessary to cover your own warts.

That was our biggest problem for the past what, decade and a half? more?

WELP,  Calais didn't want Us like some of Us wanted him. He's chasing a Ring. He signed w/Atlanta.

Time Will Tell.

NH3...

I've heard that stadium called many things, but not a ring. maybe you meant sphringcter?

Ain't nothing happening in ATL, he got his payday and his January open for travel with the fam.

Yea, it was disingenuous if he said he wanted to go to a contender. It was always about landing one last payday.

Atlanta was next to last in team sacks in 2022 with 21. this wasn't just a payday for Calaias, it was an actual upgrade for the Falcons.

Disappointed about Calais reportedly going to Atlanta. It would have been a "feel good" story, but I doubt he would have made much of an impact on the field. The Jags present situation will be bright as long as they draft well and Lawrence stays healthy. Since they added money on the salary cap, I'd like to see them go after one mid-priced free agent who plays either nickel or offensive line.

There are still lots of FAs out there but Trent seems to have missed on quite a few FAs this period.

Victim of success and cap tightening. There are ways to work around the fake cap limits (see RAMS) but I am okay with the off season. I just hope we draft well and Trevor keeps developing and taking over games.

I don’t think they missed on anything.  If you listen to Pederson’s presser they want to build through the draft.  I think the only one they may have ‘missed’ on was Campbell and they were never going to offer him a boatload of money.

Well that's [BLEEP] lame. So much for wanting to go to a contender.

I have mixed feelings. He would have been a great influence on our younger guys and fired up the fan base but really, he probably has very little tread left on the tires. He will be a role player this year.

I agree here. They went all in last off season and loaded up the roster across the board. Again, if the Calvin Ridley trade happened this off season instead of midseason last year people would still be on cloud nine about it. We had our best gift in this year's off season on layaway last year.

They added a solid RB2 and added some DE's to help make up for the loss of Arden Key. They have some extra draft picks in RD4 and RD6 next month. The fact that Baalke moved up twice last year would lead me to believe that, if he feels confident in a player that can start or help out early, he'll move up for him.

It's all about the draft moving forward until these contracts expire from last year's free agency class. Not worried about it. Team lives and dies by Pederson and Lawrence's development and chemistry together.

The issue here is that we are relying on Baalke to hit on these later rounds.

I'm not sure I trust him to do that. I think Dave Caldwell was better at drafting later in the draft than Baalke.

Just throwing in support for bringing Yannick back to town. Josh Allen need an opposing DE with pass rushing skill. Chad Muma has excellent BLITZING skills, but not pass rushing talent. Muma can get sacks, but strictly from any variety of BLITZ SCHEMES. Same for Devin Lloyd.

Well defensive line just git nudged a wee bit higher on the needs list ...

I don't mind admitting I didn't see Atlanta coming mind!

Hard to argue that point. That's why I hope he's keen on trading up more than anything. I wouldn't even be against a trade down next month. If he's able to convert the 24th RD pick into a 2nd RD pick and 3rd RD pick and a future 1st RD pick I wouldn't be opposed to it.

I would rather have ammunition for next year's draft class. We're looking at potentially Brock Bowers at TE and Marvin Harrison Jr. at WR next year if they declare. Would be tremendous having a pair of first round picks next year while still getting enough value in this year's draft.

I would be fine with a combination of Isiah Foskey and Cody Mauch in RD2 next month. I would be fine with Dawand Jones and Byron Young in RD3 next month. Grab a pair of edge rushers and offensive lineman in RD2 and RD3 and call it even.
