Who got paid to vote?

Downloading the app pays voters $30. Providing 75 names with phone numbers or emails in the app pays $60. Each time users reach out to their friends to early vote, make a plan to vote, or make contact on Election Day, they will get paid in gift cards on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

This is just a giant loophole that attempts to circumvent a current Wisconsin Law. If a user makes a plan to vote, they get money. That's bribery. We'll see if this new Supreme Court upholds the current law, lol. 

12.11 Election bribery.
(1) In this section, “anything of value" includes any amount of money, or any object which has utility independent of any political message it contains and the value of which exceeds $1. The prohibitions of this section apply to the distribution of material printed at public expense and available for free distribution if such materials are accompanied by a political message.

(a) Offers, gives, lends or promises to give or lend, or endeavors to procure, anything of value, or any office or employment or any privilege or immunity to, or for, any elector, or to or for any other person, in order to induce any elector to:

The Wisconsin law is obviously very strict.
And the new app and its payments are definitely something new and abnormal.
That said, as long as the app user doesn't offer anything of value as they encourage their contacts to vote, neither the app nor the user of the app are breaking the law.
But obviously it would be tempting for folks to offer to pass on some of the app payments to their contacts, making the thing not just an election law violation but also a pyramid scheme.

The case never should have been brought.  The pardon is a good thing.  
This is a good example of why open carry should be very, very limited, legally.

It does point up one problem with open carry, because in this case, as I understand it, both parties were legally carrying a firearm, and the trial came down to who pointed their gun at the other one first.

These polls are stupid because they're conducted and responded to mostly by people who have no idea how the military operates. It's nothing more than another division tactic. You would do yourself and everyone else a favor by ignoring it.

Eh, you say that, but it's pretty much been scientifically proven that you can get normal people to do all kinds of stuff they normally wouldn't. Other someone, then justify the need to harm them by an authority figure (for their own good or the good of X). Very few people will say know. So, truth be told, I think the military has always been capable of firing on its own citizens... we just didn't have a climate that supported that.
